I couldn't think of where to post this odd question...
anyway it's something I've been very insecure about for years.
I started lifting weights 4 weeks ago but I'm kind of thinking it's a bit pointless - because of my bone structure - narrow torso, wider hips etc. I don't think I can ever look masculine/buff.
Here's some pics:

I would love to have a body similar to this but I think it's far from possible :(

..what do you guys think? Anyone else with a scrawny/ slightly feminine physique managed to bulk up and look buff?

I don't think you have a feminine body at all. Lifting weights is never pointless no matter what your bone structure is. You won't end up looking like that guy but you'll be a bulkier/more sculpted version of yourself. You have a nice body now, I hope you post more pics as your lifting progresses.

Your body type is exactly the type that will benefit from weightlifting. A little work on balance and proportions and you'll have a very nice physique.

The good news is that you don't have to worry about putting on fat. The trade-off is that you will really have to put effort into workouts and diet. Four weeks is way too early to get discouraged- it will take some time before you will see the changes, even though other people will be able to see them much sooner.

Thanks for the replies :) @KaraBulut - currently I am doing a strength training workout 3x a week. I also do cardio (15-20 mins HIIT) twice a week. Would you recommend avoiding cardio while I'm trying to bulk up? I'm not doing it to burn fat or anything, just to keep fit and I feel good afterward.

I would love to have a body like yours. you look great! Really!!!

No, i don't think you have a feminine body at all. I should know because back in my early teen years, my body was very feminine looking, small waist, long legs, long slender arms etc...

You have a nice frame with good body proportion, keep up with your training and you'll have a body of adonis, just give it some time.

I started lifting weight at 16 and have been doing it ever since. I love it!

Not even close to feminine. If I were you I'd work a little harder on the upper body to develop some more muscle in that area, that way, your upper body will give the appearance of having a more proportionate physique (more V-shape). Lots of presses, curls, and lat pulldowns should do the trick..| Your body is fine how it is though, don't sweat it.

You do have wider hips than whatever "average" is, but I'd love to look like that! You're already very fit so I agree that weightlifting will be a huge benefit to your body type...

Thanks. Do you think they will look normal-sized/in proportion after building muscle?

Having said that they are a bit wide, I still don't think they're abnormal or disproportionate! I think any guy looks great with a little muscle on him so you have nothing to lose by working on that, but everybody in this thread summed it up for you: you already look awesome!

Your hips look normal now.

The issue is not that you have big hips. The issue is that you have a mixed frame- a broad pelvis with nice legs (mesomorph) with an ectomorphic upper body. That gives you a slightly higher waistline- near the bottom of the rib cage (see the horizontal line on the img below). Very classic "swimmer's" build. In the marked up picture below, you've shifted your weight to your left leg which puts your torso slightly out of alignment in the picture but if you follow the vertical lines, you can see that your shoulders are broader than your hips which is proper proportion.

You're lucky that you have broad shoulders and your arms have natural deltoid and bicep development. Once you bulk up a bit in your upper body and broaden your upper back, you're going to have a very athletic-looking build. You can already see the beginning of that in the pics with your shirt on.

Like most guys, you're focusing on what you perceive to be your "bad" area and missing that your "bad" area is the really the "average" part. Like a lot of guys you have a body area that builds faster (in your legs and hips). The issue is that your upper back and chest are just developing slower, so you will have to push those areas a bit harder to bring them back into proportion.

But honestly dude. No one would ever kick you outta bed.

You look great. Personal fitness is also not about looking like the dude in the photo....(it's to keep you healthy)... That said...Anyone can benefit from it....and as long as you aren't beating yourself up because you do not look like him. Have at it :)

Again thanks so much for the replies you guys are awesome...I'll keep lifting and post progress pics every few months :)

LOL, that's not feminine hip.
I saw feminines hips and they are bigger than yours ....

Must agree with the posters above you don't look feminine - and I don't think your hips are wide for your height.
You're just blessed with a frame that allows you to work your upper body without looking out of proportion.
