Not if it's a "play together" type thing. Less risk of someone deciding not to play safe if both partners are looking.

No, they do not.

I'm more freaked out by people who are freaked out by the way other people choose to live their lives, tbqhwyimhoetc.

I'm also freaked out by tinned asparagus.

Why do you keep on using images of lame pop culture to get your message across?

Now I have to make a "Do Threesomes freak you out" thread.

Monogamy is a human construction that flies in the face of the instinctive desire to mate in a way that provides the most (quantity) viable offspring. Some people do monogamy to be socially responsible - but they will always see someone (and in the case of the weird something) that interests them.

Wait

Are you saying there's another way?

I was thinking about that.

Once upon a time men had many wives/mistresses/whores whatever (Hell they still do)

It was normalized back then, though. What changed?

Was it the bible?

The Bible really just ruined everyone's fun huh? Smfh.

Ooops.

Strike a nerve?

Not really, I'm never been in one and don't plan on being in one. I don't have particularly strong opinions on the matter.

I was just responding to the question with, what I imagine, would be a fairly common line of thought amongst our fellow JUBeroonies, and one that countered yours. I thought that would be an appropriate way to engage on here. xx

Insert GIF and/or reference to tea/shade as appropriate

It does not freak me/us out but, I/we could not do it, just not something that we would even consider. It may be a good option for some and may work out fine for them. So it's like a "each's own thing" we like the side of loving and giving your whole self, body, mind and soul to someone who is going to give it back to you.

We are having our 28th Aniversary coming up August 6th(!), and it has changed my world for ever and would not have it any other way.
So Monog is fine with me/us......(*8*)

I'd want to be with someone I love and as a whole person, not sharing, or getting only part time love. But like I said it may be fine and dany for others just not us.

I'm ok with it, just not something that 'I" would like.

Not entirely human construct. It's been observed in penguins and elephants and other species...

(gotta luv a site called treehugger.com, )

I see this biological imperative argument all the time against monogamy, but it seems a bit dodgy being used by gay men with no intention of actually acting on it. :?

I think you're hitting on all the right words with "social responsibility" although, all to often those responsibilities were constructed by people other than ourselves for purposes other than our own. It's nice to be socially responsible, but what's more responsible? Getting into a situation you know won't last because you're not really into it or being honest about the situation?

That said, I'm personally a fan of serial monogamy... I don't see what's wrong with being with someone until it stops being the best thing for you both and then moving on. Unfortunately it can be difficult to establish honesty throughout a relationship. Oh well...

Yeah. Even in my wildest dreams my orgies are filled with people we would know and care about. I don't get the random aspect of most people's idea of a fun open relationship. And I don't like the idea of having parts of our sex life that we don't share with each other.

And I understand monogamy for people who want to find one person to spend their lives with. But not for people who have one relationship after another. To me it doesn't matter if you're going to have a room full of men one relationship at a time or all at once.

:?

Suppose the room only had four men in it? If one guy had 12-20 year relationships with each of the other men, one at a time, it would more than likely span his entire life.... What's wrong with that?

There's definitely a difference between a handful of men in a small room and 200+ in an auditorium...

I'm going to direct my response to this over to the "are you picky" thread. I don't support whorish behaviour and people who use open relationship agreements for only that end are wrong.

They used to when I was young. I think it was probably because I was insecure. I don't freak out if someone I know is in an open relationship. I've just never seen them last. But that's just my limited view.
