  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do people ever forget that you are gay?

They can remind you but you don't have to believe it, do you?

Yes, but unfortunately they make up 90% of the populace and as much as I would dearly love to avoid them and the crap that they spew against us on a daily basis, I'm tired of playing not "believing" what they throw at us.

Nobody ever forgets that I'm fabulous.
If they forget that you are fabulous, please turn in your gay card at the door and you will be escorted out. The door will not hit you where the Lord split you either.

People don't forget things like that. Maybe they don't accept it, or they deny it, or they don't care... but they don't forget. It's like "oh, I forgot you were blond" or "I forget, are you pretty?" Something that is as basic to my reality as my height or my ethnicity is only "forgotten" by people who don't want to believe it's true or who don't give a flying fuck about me one way or another.

Nobody can forget I'm gay. Except maybe my grandmother. But she's ninety-three and forgets her own phone number sometimes, though she's had the same number since 1945.

All my friends know im BI and its like the less then 4 hrs later they had forgot already lol. Your sexual preference doesnt define who we are =D. so it shouldnt be something people dwell on.

Everyone in the closet says that. I said it too when I was in the closet.

So, after "coming out" you have felt your gayness defines you, is that what you're saying?
Or are you saying people define you on your gayness only and all the time?

If it's the latter, then that's not true. There are people that legitimately do not define you based on your gayness. I don't do that. And I know people that aren't gay that don't do it, either.

It's not your 'gayness' defining you. Being gay is a very much a part of who a person is. I can't put it better than Swellegant. If someone you know 'forgets' you're gay, there is something wrong with how that person feels about homosexuality.

Straight people don't hide their sexuality and it doesn't define them either. Your sexuality doesn't define you, it only does when you let other people tell you it does. When you're not the problem, they are.

I think what OP meant by "forget" was that they don't really focus on that matter. That is not to say they forget entirely. I am positive people don't forget that. XD

And yes to your second part. That's what I said, pretty much.
