It may not be common, but the idea makes some sense. If the group that represents the standard of beauty is having trouble making a date, what does that say about everybody else? That could apply to race, but that could also apply to age, body size, social status, etc... If the blonde-haired, blue-eyed rich jocks can't find love, where does that leave old black men or chubby Mexicans or brunettes or white guys that aren't conventionally pretty? To deny the situation would be to deny that humans are superficial.

well i am mostly italian (so not blue-eyed or blonde hair, nor do i have a muscular build, even though i am tall) & i had my share of ethnic/nonwhite guys. to some (because of religion, upbringing, other beliefs) ethnicity matters, but i really think it just matters where you were raised and what you were exposed to. i have never been with another white guy of any nationality. i have mostly been with asian and black and i have to say most of my friends growing up were asian, black, or white (i dont what to say about the white, but it makes sense that i have been with more asian and blacks). personally, i think i could be attracted to someone of any race, if someone is hott, then they are hot.

physically, i think hispanic/spanish guys could be the most attractive, i like the med/tan skin color and dark hair/eye features. and i like the demeanor that many hispanic guys can bring. at the same time i can see how some of you guys might disagree because im sure not all, or probably most hispanic guys are not like this. since i have not been with any hispanic guys or have not had many hispanic friends, i can only judge on what i have seen in the media or the ones i have encountered who might not representative of the culture. maybe thats why some asians are more into white guys, because they have had little interaction with the culture, so can only judge on what they know. not saying that if they did get to know more people of the culture, or if i got to know more people of hispanic cultures that they/i would be turned off, its just more of a unknown/unexplored territory factor.

as for the relationships i have been in, to get specific, i have mostly been with filipino guys. i dont know, i have had convos with friends about this before, its not like i go out looking for flip guys, but its just how it turned out. the ones i have been in relationships with are ones i connect with and have the most in common with.

The Asian culture is great and historically significant, and Asia is the future while Europe and the US are falling behind. Be proud of being Asian! (though China remains a huge oppressor)

maybe with some, but i dont think it is necessarily an obsession. i think historically some asian cultures emphasize certain physical traits a lot and it works into their overall social status. even though its probably not like that today, families still socialize these ideals into their children and the features that are currently popular to them are features that western nations/caucasian people have. they obviously cant change their appearance to that extent (besides maybe wear blue colored contacts, dye their hair blonde, etc) so maybe being with someone with these features is the next best thing.

lol OR maybe its not that deep at all, maybe some just like what they dont have, opposites attract.

Asia has always suffered an inferiority complex because every country with the exception of Japan has been dominated by the west. I mean even look at the olympics, it was all about China spending billions of dollars making big monuments to impress westerners (maybe like some gay asian men try hard to impress white men?). but I think it'd be best for asians to move past seeing white and west as superior and appreciate their own culture and people as something special. and to be fair, most asians do, just a significant portion do not.

there are some of people here said that we usually fantasize the ones that we are not exposed to. well in my epxerinces, that is not the case.

i live in australia and of a filipino decent. obviously, im very exposed to whites. personally i think its from what you are exposed to. ive had aussies before and white latinos with blue eyes (like i said on my first post, im into blue-eyes lol). it doesnt really matter whether the guy is white or not, as long as they have the blue eyes and light hair, thats ok for me. lol

i havent been with another asian guy but that doesnt mean im not attracted to my own kind lol. there is one post here that said that asian guys are stereotypically skinny and thats one of the reasons why i prefer whites coz im into toned guys. although i do see some buff asian guys walking around who sometimes u wanna eat for dessert. . i just prefer light coloured skin, eyes and hair guys and i usually see that from white guys of course. plus i live in australia which of course majority of them are white. so most likely, i get to encounter whites often than other nationalities.

what im trying to say is that for me it doesnt really matter what their nationalities are, as long as their hot i go for it. lol. its just that i have certain preferences.

I really don't have a preference, as I've been attracted to guys from every "race." However, I've only been with white guys. Why? Because the other guys that I've been attracted to (of other races) were all straight. That's a bit of an issue, you know?

I don't know about others, but I find there are more "white gays" than "ethnic gays." What I mean by that is, white gays tend to be out, whereas there are fewer "out" ethnic gays.

And I agree with nihilist...as an Asian man myself, I can definitely appreciate what he's saying. Though not so much with my generation...the older generation and the newly arrived have this fascination with whites.

i think so many asian guys are into white guys is cause white guys tend to have more a mascular body. i researched it a few years ago.

there are 3 body types, one being where it gains muscle mass very easily and very fast.

and almost most white guys are like that or could BECOME that..if you know what i mean.

you dont normally see real tank and buff asian guys in porno films, you do sometimes..just sometimes.

also in "one tree hill" they talked about something (i think it was about cars) and they used Philippines as a metaphor to imply that the cars werent good coz it cam from there.

i usually notice those stuff coz im filipino. lol! im not offended or anything but maybe other filipinos are. what im saying is that those afect our perspectives towards other cultures.

yeah i think media has something to do with it. i feel like it probably influences people more for who they like than who they dislike. maybe its not as direct, maybe if affects the ideals we value and that influences who we like/dislike. honestly i dont watch those shows, but its weird that they would say that?lol so they specifically referenced the philippines? idk i think i would be kinda upset. i wonder if they thought they really thought nothing of saying something like that. if they said something like that about black people, do you think there wouldnt have been some kind of controversy?

I find myself attracted to Indian, Filipino, Trinidadian, Guyanese, all Middle Eastern and all Latino nationalities on first glance, without even getting to know them. Depending on their body language and how cultured they are. For example, a confident and friendly Brazillian with a heavy accent and pride in their culture is extremely attractive. This goes for anyone.

All races and nationalities appealing. It's more important to have a connection with someone rather than focus on their background. Race doesn't matter to me (but mixes are exotic and interesting). I find which country of their origin is more interesting. Like how you have Latinos, Caribbeans, and Americans of African ancestry. Out of that bunch, the Afro-Latinos do the most for me.

well as an ethnic white I may experience more sexual discrimination among gays than if I was blond hair and blue eyed, but it's not a huge deal. don't let these things run your life. if you see a guy you like go for him regardless. people are also more strict about their preferences online, in person exceptions are always made.
