I've never heard of trans restrooms, but I have heard of single-occupancy gender-neutral restrooms. They're not just for trans people, but they do provide a way for trans people to avoid the discomfort of being perceived as using the "wrong" restroom. They're also good for people like me, who don't like to poop with other people in the room.

The UC Berkeley dorm bathrooms have been gender co-ed since years before I went there.
After about 1 week, it's no longer the fact that the bathrooms are co-ed that is shocking. It's the fact that anyone ever thought it would be any big deal.
If you just ask Americans about the idea cold and on the spot, sure, I'm sure the great majority would say "no we're not ready." Kinda like they said about a black President.
Smells like segregation to me.
I agree, after "transition", why a "guy" cannot use the males, and a "female" use the ladies is beyond me. These people, have undergone many years of assessment to finally become their "true" self.
Do you honestly think that they would be happy entering a restroom marked "Transgender only?" As they view themselves as now either
male or female, and not a person who has undergone Gender Re-assignment.
The real governor in the rate of change to gender neutral bathrooms will be the lifespan of commercial restrooms. Renovating bathrooms is expensive, and merely changing the name on the men's room doesn't accomplish the goal.
The desire for privacy, and gender segregation, is not tantamount to bigotry. Civil rights and commode rights are hugely different.
I bet with a lever and a bit of fiddlin' they can make a bathroom stall that goes to the floor, and when it needs to be cleaned y'reach inside to the bathroom stall wall and pull the lever up to mop. Flip it when you're done, comes down again. I can't figure out how to do the same thing with a door, though. Then again, went to school for mechanics, not architecture. Ah well. Dreams.
I also want a mop like a roomba.
They have it. It's called a scooba. Same company.

^In some of the "classier" gay bars I've been to, one bathroom was for doing your business, and the other was for fucking...
If privacy was handled properly there is no problem wit co-ed rest rooms. The problem comes that woman seem to use the restroom a lot more then men, and stay longer. If you have ever been to a stadium rock concert, airport, or sports event notice the fucking line at the Ladies room with the same amount of facilities as mens? Often at these events the woman can't hold it and do use the mens room. Of course the Ladies facilities have no urinals.
Also woman rest rooms can be disgusting, as can mens this is a generalization I realize. One of my first jobs was lot~n~lobby at McDonalds. At 16 I quickly discovered how gross it was cleaning a used tampon toss about on the tile walls in the Ladies room. Very vividly you don't forget a wet blood clot stained white tile wall with the smell of Big Mac grease and putrid rest room auto timed air freshener.
Most Gay bars are gender neutral that I have been to with mixed results. If the drag queens take `em over you can't get them out for checking cocks and snorting coke.
