It's basically a toilet like you have at your house, Pat. A bathroom which is not specific for any gender, just a room with a toilet and a basin in it. Many small restaurants and stores here in .za have something similar.

Not so much "interesting" as "exactly what we all have at home."

It's saying that WE are nice people. WE hang round with nice people. WE choose NOT to go to no-go areas.

But public toilets are for the public and you can't stop them entering.

If you are a woman you will spend at least four or five minutes sitting down with your pants round your ankles. You can't run away from danger if your legs are hobbled together at the ankles.

Hehe Just be the bomb thrower, I would say that is what firearms are for, maybe we could put a small shelf in easy reach above the toilet paper roll for the handgun, mace, taser or whatever other means of self defense makes them feel good. Better stall locks would be a good idea too.

I used to be on the OHS team in my building. For months we'd get complaints that fruit flies were buzzing round these things in certain toilets.

There is no need of complicating life and increasing building expenses by having a "third" restroom for transgender people. Use the lavatory in which you feel most comfortable.

If you go that route, why not separate toilets for colored folks as well?

I agree, growing up in the south businesses use to have 3 restrooms. Male, Female and Black. Today it would be like Male, Female and It. It will take time but the world will need to adapt.

I hadn't thought of the separate but equal aspect from history, another reason NOT to have separate bathrooms specifically designated for TG as it would only encourage discrimination. So it still looks like gender neutral and multi-purpose private bathrooms are still the best approach.
