It is a big struggle for me to accept a compliment of any sort.

I don't like when people compliment me. I don't know why. Even from someone I'm dating. I just smile or laugh and tell them "You're much more good looking/attractive" or whatever...

Honestly don't consider myself attractive, so it really makes me self conscience and do an internal retreat if someone even says something as basic as "Nice shirt", I usually don't even acknowledge the compliment and immediately change the subject to something else.

no, i don't like it. i rarely get compliments anyways but i'll say this in regards to not liking compliments about physical appearance. i try to stay away from that whole mentality of looks being everything because it's not. you know, i live in a world where people judge you for how you dress, your skin color, your hair, your height and basically what they see and people really go about acting like they really know you based off of that. as a black male, i've seen how people react where you have women holding their purses, police following me outside my house, and the whole nine and i'm not even a criminal. so i try to stay away from that because i don't think it's fair to judge anybody by how they look. there's way too many people that use that whole "appearance is everything" bullshit and you see a lot of ugliness and negativity involved in that. you should get to know me first before you judge my appearance whether you like it or not. so i try to stay away from that or people who think like that.

It made having lots of sex with lots of different people much easier. So yes. As for compliments, I get them but I don't really react to them that often - they're not something I thrive on like some of my friends.

For me, working on my project, I'm both. My usual reaction is like, If you're so excited about what I'm doing, how about pitching in to help?

In all seriousness, straight girls will make comments about my eyes every once in awhile. One weird compliment i've gotten from gay guys. . .and ONLY gay guys. . .is "You have a hot nose". It's really creepy to me.

This may sound shallow or weird or something... but I like compliments from people that are less attractive than me, or on about equal footing. If someone who I consider to be better looking than me gives me a compliment, I feel it's insincere, even if it's not. That's in real life, anyway.

Sometimes when I hang out on cam sites I get people going "hot body" or "nice ass" or whatever, and I usually like that because they have no obligation to compliment me unless they really think I'm good looking and wanna get me in private (or just be nice). If only real life were so simple... and anonymous.

People mean it in a good way. But I don't like him either - that's the problem
