Internet - Wouldn't ever choose to live without

The real bitch is Cell Phones. Thanks to that little invention:
Your boss can call you in the car, on vacation, at midnight or any other time.
You cannot escape from work ever.
Rude people think it is appropriate to talk loudly in public places with no consideration.
No privacy anywhere, anytime, anyplace

Sometimes, but then again, I’m probably one of the very last of the generation that actually grew up with rotary telephones and manual card searches at the library, so whenever I get nostalgic for the pre-internet days, I just remember them and shudder.

Nah, before the internet I was pretty into technology. I remember haunting the library just to watch the ‘big kids’ with their 5” floppy disks playing Tetris and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

One of them even offered to copy it for me, so I begged my parents to buy a box of them, and I brought it to the library, and he did… then he explained how to use it, and he was telling me DOS. I mean, verbally telling me all the commands I needed to load it and whatnot.

I had no clue.

I think I was 8 or so.

But instead of frustrating me, it just made me want to learn even more.

Having said all of this…

There are a few certain technological “advances” I think we could live without, or, at the very least, put a freekin’ cap on: like cellphones, texting, etc.

I was in a shopping center the other day and I saw this 90 year old Chinese lady with one of those ear-clip Bluetooth phones… I was like, “Jesus Christ, the future is now…!”
