Do you feel safe walking at night...

I feel pretty safe in my neighborhood; the new boy's is another matter. There are three boys that sit on the porch most nights and you can see the glass left from broken car windows on nearly every street around his place. They've never said or bothered him or I; I still wouldn't turn my back on them.

It's the same in most parts of DC....there are some places you don't go but the areas in which I tend to walk, bike, or go; I've never felt endangered.

My boyfriend's neighborhood....it has some less than enjoyable areas with which I am not comfortable!

I live in kind of a bad neighborhood, there's drug dealers, crackheads, gangbangers, drunks, sometimes there's shootings and despite all of these factors, I'm not the least bit afraid, and i live about a mile away from work which I walk to and from, I work overnight so I walk to work at 8pm and I get off and walk back home at 4 or 5am, and I run pretty regularly, and when I run I prefer to run at night or early morning, but I've never had any kind of problems,

Not the most quiet town in Spain but Granada is very safe and realy nice at nigth.

It's about a mile walk to and from work for me. Sometimes I get off pretty late and walk it at night. I always feel safe when I'm walking around, though. Even walking through the worst areas of Portland and Seattle at night doesn't phase me. Most muggers/whoever don't mess with guys who are 6'4'' and 280 lbs.

Yeah, this neighborhood is very quiet, even though it's the 'city'

My friend (a rather slim woman) used to walk her dog at night here. She now moved to the suburbs, and can't do it.


Mainly because the suburbs are not pedestrian friendly

Safe? I rarely leave the house unattended (not paranoid, just social anxiety disorder). Aside from that, would YOU want to mug somebody over 6 feet tall with big hands and the build of a Russian mob bodyguard?

Okay, that's a stretch, but I have a large frame and I can square my shoulders and make little kids run away screaming.
