I never do but I think maybe I should start sometimes just to make things less awkward. Lots of times people show me things they think is so funny and when I'm watching it with them they're laughing through out the whole thing and I'm just standing there silent wondering how someone could find it that funny when I don't even chuckle from it. It always ends in awkwardness for both me and the other person unless it's something I actually do think is funny. At the same time, it's not like me to laugh if I don't think something's funny.

you just have to learn to laugh out of courtesy.

OUCH!

I atleast smile out of courtesy, and try to even the embarrassment by showing back something which I know is not going to be funny. Then I rule back, by showing/telling them something funny, so that the person should know the things that I consider funny, for the future avoidance of such embarrassments.

You know what's even worse? When you find something funny that shouldn't be...And you desperately try to choke it back.
That can be very awkward. You sit there, making those funny noises in your throat, while people look at you like your some kind of lunatic. And you try to explain, but it's pointless, because now EVERYBODY knows you're an insensitive lout...

I can usually muster up a half-hearted laugh or chuckle if I don't find it funny...unless I find it offensive and then I'd either say say something or walk away (depending upon the situation though.)

My former boss had a weird sense of humor and would often tell jokes...generally not funny, distasteful or just old/tired/predictable. Anyway...he'd be telling the joke and be busting a gut while doing so...(Me :##:) I found myself laughing AT him and not with him...he really was quite a fool. It got me through those awkward moments and he was none the wiser.

No. Never. Because many things aren't funny.

One exception: the new Barbie-Collection...

No I don't.

I am not sure, but I think the main reason an old boss liked me was because I didn’t laugh at all of his jokes. He would tell the worse joke and everyone would laugh, but me. I think he liked that I didn’t suck up to him like everyone else.

At any rate I am sure he told some of the dumbest jokes just to see if others would laugh. He seemed to like to test certain people.

I laugh at things that are shocking, that are saddening, that are gruesome, that are boring. I don't know - it's like an involuntary reaction.

But if it's something that's supposed to be funny but doesn't strike me as such, I don't laugh. I just open my eyes wider, open my mouth a bit, and do that "Ah-HA!" sort of thing. To me, that indicates "I understand where the humor goes here, but it's not striking me as funny."

I think a certain "class clown" in high school hated me because I was the only one who didn't laugh at his jokes. I'm not sure if everyone really thought he was funny or only some and the rest just laughed along but I could tell he didn't like me for not laughing at his jokes.
