Yes I do. I had a Porsche I'd crank up to about 130 from time to time. God, I miss that car!

Since I'm at Heart a "Car Guy", I love being able to open them up, and see what they can do, no matter what type they may be! :gogirl: (!w!)

However, I'm very conscious of being a Good/Safe driver, above and beyond merely a Fast driver! ..|

My favorites have been the ones with Flashing Lights and Sirens! \:/

Yes...it's one of the reasons my licence is suspended.

well for those citing the speed limit. what if there wasn't any :) ?

It wouldn't make a difference in my area. There would still be gridlock, or rubberneckers slowing down traffic to get a peak at anything on the side of road, and crazy people carelessly changing lanes causing accidents that back up traffic. And I am talking about a typical, normal day.

I often laugh when I see a patrol monitoring speed on a gridlocked section of highway. I see it nearly every day.

Well Corny since you live in germany you know how it is..So yes to that! It wasnt unusual to hit 150mph when driving a Mercedes...Frankfurt to Stuttgart iis about 95 miles (155k)..we made it in 45 min..

When I'm on an open road, I usually hit around 90mph (145km/h). That's probably what I am comfortable with on the highway. Usually the only highway I drive is to my brother in New Haven which I do in about 2 hours (135 miles). Course the 91-95 connector in New Haven is a freaking bitch.

At least for Americans, many of them are just bad drivers. Americans like to do shit (talk on phone, eat/drink) while driving which is why I fear when I see someone talking on the phone while on the highway. They simply cannot focus at the task at hand which is driving. Probably the same reason that manual cars are pretty much extinct in the US too. I no joke saw a woman (probably in her 50s) yapping on her cell phone, hop a curb and sideswipe a telephone pole and continue driving like nothing had happened. I always chuckle over the fact that many European cars don't have cup holders and Americans would be appalled by that.

I love driving fast, if the car handles it properly and the road is clear.

My car handles like it's on rails, thanks to a few "tweaks". Driving is still fun. Though I never drive unsafe. Those years, (god, how DID I survive them..) are behind me. But I'm no Camry driving zombie.

I'd love to take an Ariel Atom for spin, though...

I was driving out in Montana a while back. They had no speed limits on major roads. Of course the road is straight as an arrow for miles, so you can really hot foot it out there.

sadly we don't have much of that. but there are a few routes in southern germany where it goes down a slight hill and you have a view for 3-5kms or so. that's when i floor the car to 240kmh (top speed).

oh we have those people, too. they are a huge pain if there are only two lanes. you can get fined here for driving slowly on the left and not passing any other cars. sadly the fining doesn't happen often enough. i have a bluetooth connection that allows me to speak over the car radio. also i can dial numbers/contacts via voice commands. but still .. when i'm on the phone, i'll just slow down, pull over to the right or middle lane.

i'll be driving to stuttgart via frankfurt on monday. but in business traffic, so i won't be able to top this ;)

The fastest I've gone was 80mph. Mainly because I was passing someone in North Dakota where some of the main highways are 75mph.

But I try keeping my speed near if not under the speed limit. If it's 70mph, I may go 60-65mph because I use a lot less gas that way. haha. Makes a big different when your car is doing 17mpg vs 24mpg. I also love cruse control, so not often I go over my set speed.

But to answer your question, I do like going fast, but considering I have a minivan/people-carrier, it's not practical to go any faster.

If there were no speed limit I would drive as fast as I could.....I love going fast in cars!

I love driving my small manual, I mean especially on the highway even with the small 4 cylinder it is just 5th gear. However I can manage town driving, in my manual, with a coffee and a cigarette (when I smoked) at the same time listening to the radio and correctly driving (though reaction speed would be greatly reduced).

Sometimes it is good being 6'2.... you can drive with your knees if you have to.

Oh and no cupholders, it is what your crotch is for.

I like going fast in cars, but my problem is with other humans and the environment. You just can't trust idiots that want to pull out infront of you, merge without looking etc. Cornflake box drivers, EVERYWHERE (as in got their licence from the bottom of one).

I love driving fast. I love driving my car fast even more. I've pushed my car to the redline on a few occasions. But I plan to never get another speeding ticket in my life, so I stick to the safe zone (about 5 over the posted limit) on the highways.

I had a dream last nite that I got pulled over-- is it a sign?!

Hopefully you returned the favor and gave him a rush with road head, after pulling over to stop first, of course.

I would have, but we were still both pretty spent from the head we gave each other before we went for the drive :p

It's only an omen if the officer didn't pleasure you with his baton or maglite.

I drive the speed limit theirs too many Traffic Light Cameras all over the place

Good policy, UC. Though it's happened only once (so far). probably my most dreaded part about traveling is getting back and hoping that a camera-generated speeding/traffic light ticket doesn't show up in my mail. It's easy to briefly speed while not paying attention to the odometer. Some traffic lights don't stay yellow long enough for you to get through the intersection, or you may need to stop so suddenly that other dangers (such as being hit from the rear) are introduced.

I think that all such tickets should be entirely illegal and unenforceable. A ticket should be valid only if it is personally given to you by a law enforcement officer.

Not that the situation is entirely excused by any means, but I believe here in Illinois any photo enforcement must be POSTED on a traffic sign.

Be careful, anybody, if you go through Cedar Rapids on Interstate 380. That's where I got my "camera" speeding ticket.

I currently don't have a car, but when I do drive, I tend to drive like a little old lady (except that I actually turn off my turn signal after I've made my turn). Of course, that may have something to do with the fact that I learned to drive on a car that shook furiously if it got above 55 mph. Or the fact that I had three accidents within my first three years of driving...
