To all the people in this thread who say they have precious memories stored on cassette/VHS/DVD --

SAVE THEM NOW!

Keep a backup copy of everything you own that is valuable. VHS tapes last 5-10 years. Recordable DVDs last 3-6 years. Store-bought DVDs last 5-12 years.

I've recently copied my 300-DVD collection onto 2 x $200 hard drives. The DVDs are in the garage as a backup. Soon, I'll make a backup copy of the hard drive.

Nothing lasts forever. Back up everything! And back up the precious stuff twice!!
