/\ oh my. someone who loves Doctor who enough to post in all caps.

ok..someone jog my memory...the maccara were in the previous series? damn, i can't believe i don't remember them.

I think the Maccara were from years ago.

it probably saved them a lot of money
Actually having seen the shortened version of Confidential tonight this was one of the most expensive episodes they've done due to the amount of CGI used.

Yeah I thinking they were in the 2nd or 3rd generation of the Doctor. You have to remember that the Doctor said something about the smog had made then de-evolve into there current state. I think that's what he said!

i've seen all jon pertwee's episodes and i can't recall them. i've not seen anywhere near all of troughton's, but most of those aren't in existence any more. i still can't place them. i know he said they de-evolved, but i just figured he knew them from "somewhere" and that we didn't necessarily know them also, like the Crilitains (sp?).

Well I really just watched Torchwood for John Barrowman. Shame he didn't get naked.

I admit, I'm not a fan of the show, but I'm currently watching John Barrowman on a Sondheim revue called Putting It Together. Wow!!

Apparently John likes to entertain his co-stars by flashing his cock at them.

/\ really? that seems....tacky. the first time i might be like "wow that's hot." but after that...in the work place...nawh i think that would be tacky.

You're right. Very tacky. If I were on the cast I'd say to him: John, next time you whip that out, I'm going to stuff it back in for you!

Then I'd discipline him by spanking him.

I'm not sure I have the picture but there is one going around that's supposed to be John's cock.

yeah I remember seeing that picture. Don't think I have it, but if memory serves, it was quite impressive!

Found them! Only took me 6 days. ;) They are from the Patrick Troughton era, season four (1966/67), titled "The Macra Terror." It was a four parter, but none of them survive, just the audio. The crabs look smaller, but about the same.

From BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/episodeguide/macraterror/detail.shtml

Plot The time travellers visit a human colony that appears to be a happy place run along the lines of an enormous holiday camp but has in fact been infiltrated and taken over by a race of giant crab-like creatures - the Macra. The brainwashed inhabitants are forced to mine a gas toxic to themselves but vital for their oppressors' survival. Ben at one point comes under the Macra's malign influence and turns against his friends. He eventually regains his senses, however, and under the Doctor's guidance destroys the gas pumping equipment, thus killing the Macra and restoring the colony's freedom.

Yeah he looked great as a half human half pig!

How cool was the ending? Shame we've got to wait another week to see the end of the story.

It was a good episode, but gosh it seemed to go so fast. But...i got a question...if we only saw the Black Dalek escape last time...um why are there more? Are we assuming they all had the ability to emergency temporally shift? And if they were not...then ...why would the Black Dalek need to do what he did at the end?

Um... ok don't get mad, as I love the show and havent missed an episode, but I thought last night's episode was just awful.
Really - stupid story, poor script, bad bad acting.
From the looks of the previews for next week, it should turn around (and I hope it does), but really and truly it was, I think, the worst Dr Who episode I have ever seen.
And it pains me to say so.
