Doctor Who Season 3

GOOD NEWS ALERT!!!!!!!!
Why is this good news? You're happy to have a year with only three episodes? You can't be much of a Doctor Who fan if that doesn't bother you.

Sweetie please!

Yes I'm happy to have a year with only three doctor who specials!! It's better then a year without who on anymore. It's better then seeing David Tennant leave the show so that he can do some acting. It's better then seeing RTD leave the show too. It's better to see them take a year off then to totally destroy the show.

Oh did I mention that I use to watch Sopranos ? They took two years off!

I quite like the plans they have for the next few years.
A year with three specials is ok they are in danger of Overkill if they carry on and on, us fans might want to get as much as we can but other viewers tend to get fed up and viewing figures drop.
Then the show will stop and we don't want that.
I think it is good puts an end to the stories going around and tells us what to expect don't forget they still have Torchwood and Sarah Jane comming out as well.
Who knows they might do more Animation that seemed to go down well.
Just think of all the Audio books they have that they could Animate if they wanted.

Long term I think it will work.

As a fan I still think it is a shame they don't do like America and have 10 22 episode seasons and all the extras but it seems to be a whole different set up.

Budgeting?

I think 22 episodes in a season sounds like a lot, especially if they want one overarching storyline per season. I'd personally prefer two shorter seasons - eight episodes each, perhaps. I thought the Lucie Miller BBC7 audio story season was a good set-up - long enough for character development but not so long that viewers/listeners get fed up of a storyline getting dragged on and on.

I suppose that Tennant is deemed popular enough to go with the three specials rather than get an 11th doctor with a more flexible timetable.

OK if there is a year off Martha can pop up in Torchwood again. And maybe Billie could come back and wesee life in the other universe. Who knows.

Can anyone send me a Torrent file for the Sarah Jane Smith Adventures premiere that debuted this last weekend in the UK? Demonoid, my usual trusted source, is down, TorrentSpy has been scared off from allowing US users from using it, and no one's commented on the uploads for the pilot at the more obsecure sites I don't know well enough to think they have a good reputation at blocking trojans and spywares from being uploaded onto their sites without hearing from people who've already d/led it...

Feel free to send me a PM about this if you can help me out. Thanks in advance!

Actually it debuted yesterday. Don't know anything about Torrent files so I can't help.

An update on the new series of Doctor Who, apparently they will go back in time to the last days of Pompeii.

Apparently Billie Piper is in talks to return as Rose for a three-part story for the season finale next year.

I'm looking forward to the Christmas special with Kylie Minogue.

I could definately go a 3-way with Captain Jack & Mickey! *|*

Now that should be interesting. Wonder how that's going to happen....They'd have to open up the void again and that means cybermen and daleks coming through from the middle (hell) hmmmmmm

The Sontarans are back!!!!

BBC Website said:
Christopher Ryan, best known for playing super-cool Mike in the classic comedy series The Young Ones, is set for a guest-starring role in an upcoming Series Four adventure.

Ryan will play a Sontaran leader in the story, due to begin filming in the next few weeks.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be appearing in this new Doctor Who," Chris revealed. "The last time I appeared in Doctor Who was in 1986, Colin Baker was the Doctor and I was still a Young One."

The story in question was the Trial Of A Time Lord, where Chris starred as the slug-like Mentor Kiv alongside Trevor Laird, who played Martha's dad in 2007.

If you know your Who lore, the Sontarans will need no introduction. If you're a newer viewer, however, you may not know that the Sontarans are amongst the greatest villains from the classic series of Doctor Who.

A military, warlike species, able to clone vast armies of themselves, the Sontarans are locked into an eternal struggle with their enemies the Rutans.

Total agreement.

I agree, especially if it would mean a shorter wait between seasons. I've been going through withdrawal with too many of my shows.

Awesome! I thinks it works great with the foreshadowing we saw with them getting a mention on this past episode of Sarah Jane Adventures.

Total agreement.

It does bother me...but what bothers me more is the fact that if they didn't find a compromise with David, then we would lose him as the Doctor. Then to me the show would have died right there...just like when I was 8 and baker left. I know he can't do it forever but I just can't image the Doctor being anybody else right now.

But he may only do the specials in 2009. He's not definate for season 5.

Well, that's you. Honestly, I'm not as awe-struck by Tennant as everyone else seems to be. Of course, I'd rather have him than Sylvester McCoy, but that's neither here nor there.

The only bad thing about losing Tennant this soon, would be that by switching to the next actor to play The Last of the (heroic) Time Lords, we'd be on the Eleventh Doctor, meaning only two more regenerations before he'd reach the end of his life. Of course, that never stopped the Master, so... but I'm not sure if the Doctor would take the kind of measures the Master has to stay alive.

Okay, it hasn't come out yet, but having watched the third series on sci-fi, it is by leaps and bounds superior to the previous two years of mush.

David Tennant has never been better as the Doctor, and Freema Agyeman is impeccable as the far superior companion, Martha Jones.

I've pre-ordered it.

It's going to be an expensive day for me on November the 6th!! With the good doctor hitting the shores in series 3 dvd set and of course Call of Duty 4 : modern combat for xbox 360.....I'm going to have to eat light this month! :D But anything for the "Doctor"!

Shame the audience didn't think so and she's off to Torchwood. Although as has been mentioned before she's supposed to return at some point in the fourth series (although I'm not sure how they'll fit in three companions!).

Where has it been established that she stopped being the Doctor's companion because of what the audience wanted? I would think if she's so unpopular, she wouldn't be returning to both of the Whoniverse's adult flagship series. The fact that Catherine Tate, or whatever her name is, is going to be the Doctor's next companion is proof, if any be needed, that the producers/casting directors *don't* pay attention what the audience wants. And let's not even bring up Kylie Minogue...

So why was she moved to Torchwood? If she was SO good she would still be in Doctor Who. I didn't see them getting rid of Billie Piper after one series.
