So, did anyone catch the 1st season finale of Sarah Jane Adventures? Personally, I liked the last two-parter, "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane" better. But let me know if anyone has any thoughts about this first season of SJA... it's nice to see that Doctor Who spin-offs are finally succeeding on their own merits after the K9 and Company pilot that never really made it in 1981.

/\ i'm waiting on it now. the only complaint i have about SJA is that she's not really the focus of the stories. even in the last two parter, she's not in it that much. i like the show, but hope liz sladen gets more screen time next season.

ps i liked k-9 and company. i heard liz sladen was a bit hacked off about the name. apparently she was originally in the title, then they added k-9, then they dropped her from the title!

Actress Billie Piper is to return to Doctor Who, the BBC has confirmed.

She will star in three episodes of the sci-fi drama, reprising her role as the Doctor's companion, Rose Tyler.

Rose's return will mean the Doctor has three assistants in next year's series - Donna, played by Catherine Tate, and Freema Agyeman as Martha.

The new series begins in March and will run for 13 episodes. There will be three special editions in 2009 before the show takes a break until 2010.

Piper left Doctor Who last year, when Rose was transported into a parallel universe.

Awards

The character had been a hit and Piper won a number of awards for her performances. She was named most popular actress at the National Television Awards in 2005 and 2006.

A separate show based on Rose had been planned by writer and series producer Russell T Davies, but was scrapped when Davies decided the programme was "a spin-off too far".

Filming is currently under way in Cardiff for the new series of Doctor Who, which sees the Doctor meeting an old group of enemies - the Sontarans - 35 years after first encountering them.

Before that, the programme will return to television screens at Christmas with a special episode set on the Titanic, which will co-star singer and actress Kylie Minogue.

I'm just pretty damned excited by all of it! More Torchwood with Martha and Jack in, The Christmas special with Kylie! We get Donna back for season four and then Who knows what?! Great stuff!!

i'm a little surprised they are brining back rose, although i like rose. i just don't know why they are bringing her back. then again they brought jack back for a few episodes so i guess it's all good.

oh i know! i never understood the donna-hate. i thought she was terribly funny and had some of the best lines in the christmas special. not to mention she and tennant were just grooving.

i'm pretty sure rose's return will work. so far they've done a pretty damn good job with the series.

you know i liked martha... but i think i'm going to like her more on torchwood. but that's just me.

after rose i wasn't all too keen on the doctor getting romantically involved again. i think with donna we're going to see some sparks fly.
