Does anyone read books?

After watching Legend of the Seeker (which I think is just a show in itself), I'm thinking about reading the books it took its name from when I have the chance to visit a bookstore.

The books series is called "The Sword of Truth". I found it started off well, but then took a nosedive after the first few books. I think it's an interesting combination of entertainment and irritation.

Currently I'm reading A Feast for Crows. It's part of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. REALLY good read, for anyone even slightly interested in the Fantasy genre.

This series is GOD. No really. It's one of the best series I've ever read.

I just bought book 4 and hope to be reading it during Christmas.

Otherwise, I'm not really reading anything atm, but... As IntoEternity said, A Song of Ice and Fire is really worth checking out.

Otherwise, I'm still trying to get through the third book of Otherland, a really good sci fi/futuristic series by Tad Williams that anyone that likes fantasy should check out. Cause while sci fi, it has clearly many fantasy-characteristics.

I just finished up Steven King's Tommyknockers, and have started in on Fredrick Pohl's 'The Boy Who Lived Forever'.

I usually try to read one fiction and one biography, usually some one from old Hollywood.
My latest "Call me by your name" by Andre' Aciman(a nice read of first love) and "Doris Day : the untold story of the girl next door" by David Kaufman
(America's first cougar;))

I read multiple books at the same too. Right now I am in the middle of reading

Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horrowitz
Eldest by Christopher Paolini
Wicked by Gregory Maguire and
Vampire's Assistant by Darren Shan

I finally picked up A Confederacy of Dunces, which I've been meaning to read for years now.

The lesson is I probably shouldn't read comedies while I'm sick. I guess I'm supposed to be amused by Ignatius Reilly, but I'm more annoyed than anything.

I was at my local bookstores the other day and someone had placed a copy of that Sara Palin book in the fiction section. Made my day.

I'm currently reading the 2nd Dexter book but because of College work (I'm teacher Training intensively for a year) I haven't had time to read it in a while.

I've started reading the the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I'm halfway through the first of about 12 books so i've some way to go but so far so good.

Two book purchases I made this year, about the presidential election of 2008,
that I've enjoyed reading…

How Barack Obama Won: A State-by-State Guide to the Historic 2008 Presidential Election (Vintage),
by Chuck Todd and Sheldon Gawiser

The Audacity to Win: The Inside Story and Lessons of Barack Obama’s Historic Victory (Viking Adult),
by David Plouffe

Just finished "Warbreaker" by Brandon Sanderson. Generally good, and a surprisingly small amount of action scenes for a fantasy book (this is not a criticism). The really interesting thing is that he made the book (and its earlier drafts) available on his website.

Is it time to brush the dust off this thread again?

I've read very little western philosophy so I picked up a couple of middlebrow books. I'm about halfway through Wittgenstein's Poker by Edmonds and Eidinow. So far, it's pretty light on the thinking of Karl Popper and Ludwig Wittgenstein instead focusing more on their social and historical worlds. It may not be the WWF but the premise of battling super-geniuses is fun.

I also got Bertrand Russell's (who is himself a character in the above book) general survey. Coming from such a seemingly elite perch his tone manages to be uncondescending. It's very accessible.

I read multiple books at the same too. Right now I am in the middle of reading

Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horrowitz
Eldest by Christopher Paolini
Wicked by Gregory Maguire and

I'm reading 'Wicked' too! Sadly I can only concentrate on one book at a time and I don't rate this one very highly. It's dragging in the middle...

And OH NO!!! Darren Shan??? Please put that book down immediately - the worst writer (even for children) ever to have published! I read his 'Bec' and 'Slawter' don't know how I managed to finish but they were the biggest load of tripe I have ever read.

Next up on my list is 'Chart Throb' and 'Dead Famous' by Ben Elton.

What is this reading you speak of? And books??? What do they do? What is their significance?

I just finished Earth Abides. I'm about to start The Omnivore's Dilemma for a class. I've been wanting to read it for a while.
