Speaking of the detective books... anyone know the series where the detectives have super powers to solve murders and other cases?
Re-reading Tales of the City, whilst reading The Handmaid's Tale and Last Summer.
I have a very short attention span.
Along with INVISIBLE MONSTERS by Chuck Palaniuk and LOST SOULS by Poppy Z. Brite (the two best gay novels ever written as far as I'm concerned) it's one of my top three favorites of all time. I re-read each of them a couple times a year I'd say.
I love, love, love, Invisible Monsters. Chuck is a god and that novel is his crowning achievement (at least in my opinion)
I liked it a lot. While disturbing, it wasn't as fucked up as I'd expected from reviews. Honestly, I thought some of the stuff in Preacher was just as disturbing, if not more.
currently reading:
A New Earth- Eckhart
Just Kids- Patti Smith
Junkie- William Burroughs
recently i've been reading a collection of short stories from Neil Gaiman.
I read Junkie this past fall. I liked it. I've been meaning to pick up a copy of Patti Smith's book.
I'm currently reading Neon Angel by Cherie Currie. I've been a fan of The Runaways since age 13.[
I'm finishing the Patti Smith, and I highly recommend it....Any choices you'd think I'd appreciate? Always interested in other's favorite books....![]()
Sometimes I feel as though I'm the only person with virtually no interest in sci-fi or fantasy as genres - not just from this thread but including other sites as well.
I've read most of those...I don't find Gaimens short stories particularly memorable, although people endlessly praise him.
I suppose not -- I enjoy time travel themes, if that's a sub-genre?
I'm happy that other people enjoy other worlds and such, but it's not anything I've ever been able to get into.
