To be honest with you, I am not a fan of vegetarian/vegan versions of meat, dairy products and such

as if eating well prepared veggies, and such, is so ... unsatisfying that we need to fake the delicious cheese/meat products we don't eat...

Yeah, I find it interesting too..

If it tastes like Salad Dressings ingredients formed into a brick, then why are they calling it cheese.

and lol...taste like ass... I don't know whether to say I like it or hates it. Depends on what ass your talking about.

That is exactly how I feel, but I do think that many veggie burgers, 'nuggets' and such taste disgusting

I love vegetarian food, and one thing I hate about this town is the lack of restaurant choices for that kind of food.

But I really don't want to eat 'vegetarian' steak, I eat steak...

and I love tofu, and mushrooms, and ... well other stuff that is sometimes use to 'make' things vegetarian, just the way they are...

Tofu is essentially cheese made from soya milk - but it don't taste like what non-vegans think of as cheese.

I'd guess that vegan "cheese" is essentially Tofu + saturated fat + artificial flavourings.

There are so many different types of cheese that the question is really irrelevant. Cheddar tastes nothing like camembert which tastes nothing like Edam which tastes nothing like Caerphilly and so ad infinitum. They are all real cheeses but taste totally different with different textures etc.

My sister and mother are both vegan...

And they make their OWN vegan cheese...

I'm NOT sure what it is made of -- but I AM SURE it doesn't contain TOFU...

It is AWESOME!!!

:):):)

Vegan cheese---sounds...interesting, I was vegetarian for a year---I don't know if I could go totally vegan though.

yeah, but tofu?

I really don't get the big whoop about it

after all it is a staple in the far east, and I don't see their populations crashing...

canola is one the much genetically modified crops, with heavy amounts of pesticides and it isn't really digested, also known as rapeseed. sunflower or grapeseed oil would be better choices.

I know exactly what canola is. You, however, clearly don't.

In 1974, rapeseed varieties with a low erucic content were introduced. Scientists had found a way to replace almost all of rapeseed's erucic acid with oleic acid, a type of monounsaturated fatty acid. (This change was accomplished through the cross-breeding of plants, not by the techniques commonly referred to as "genetic engineering.") By 1978, all Canadian rapeseed produced for food use contained less than 2% erucic acid. The Canadian seed oil industry rechristened the product "canola oil" (Canadian oil) in 1978 in an attempt to distance the product from negative associations with the word "rape." Canola was introduced to American consumers in 1986. By 1990, erucic acid levels in canola oil ranged from 0.5% to 1.0%, in compliance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.

This light, tasteless oil's popularity is due to the structure of its fats. It is lower in saturated fat (about 6%) than any other oil. Compare this to the high saturated fat content of peanut oil (about 18%) and palm oil (at an incredibly high 79%). It also contains more cholesterol-balancing monounsaturated fat than any oil except olive oil and has the distinction of containing Omega-3 fatty acids, a polyunsaturated fat reputed to not only lower both cholesterol and triglycerides, but also to contribute to brain growth and development.

In other words, it's a healthy oil. One shouldn't feel afraid to use it because of some Internet scare loosely based on half-truths and outright lies.

I'm sleep-deprived, and that puts me in a weird mood.

Besides, boobies are fun and bouncy and squishy.
