Do you ever hear songs that are so beautiful, so right, and just pure "ear candy" for you that it brings on tears? It happens to me every now and then, and while I used to feel weird about it--I started to accept that perhaps it's just my way of connecting and appreciating the music I'm listening to. Whether a sad ballad, a moving instrumental, or a happy "pop" song...I've been touched and moved by all kinds at some point.

So who here gets the occasional waterworks when listening to a beautiful song? :D Why would you say it happens for you?

For me...I would say the MAIN thing is usually intricacies in production. If i listen to a song, and the production touches me, I'm pretty much sold...

other things factor in like the "message", the way the singer executes vocals (for songs that are not instrumentals), and such...but the production, the way instruments are used, etc. usually comes first for me.

Half and half. I've had music that has made me cry, but mot of the time it's more nostalgic songs that have messages that I can relate to. Some old Disney songs and some songs from musicals tend to do this to me. The songs I have in my iPod that are more pop and indie/alternative don't have the same effect on me.

It usually happens for me mostly when I remember someone who has died...usually one of my friends who has died from AIDS.

When I hear George Benson and Rachelle Farrell sing "Everything Must Change" it slays me...everytime...something about her voice makes me cry sometimes...she moves me (they both do)

I think for me it is mostly the singer and if they own the song and if I can "feel it"....

A saxaphone helps a lot too..|

Yeah sometimes, but a lot of things make me cry. I'm very sensitive and things impact me very strongly.

The first time I heard a Frank Sinatra song I cried.

I dont cry a great lot, but i do get teary at times.
Especially when i hear "Jan Terri" its torture to my ears.

Especially "loosing you" and "Journey to mars"
That woman is so anoying.

^^Not when this guy i know listens to her. 24/7.
It's too much.
I like "get down goblin" though.;)

And "Excuse my Chrisrmas" i listen to it every year.:xmas:

Like eastofeden, some songs trigger sad memories, some songs trigger good ones, occasionally i will hear something that makes me tear up. I may be a little weird though, the last time was while i was listening to a CD of Gregorian Chants, just amazing.

It can either be the song and what the song is about. It could also be a trigger to a sad memory or something. Every time I hear a song about someone being lost to death it makes me think of the people I lost and makes me think of the people I can lose in my life now.

"Clouds" by Zach Sobiech. He wrote it when he found out he was gonna die within months of his cancer. Its a great tune but sad.

Yes, very often.

Usually because the beauty of the piece touches me deeply* ... but occasionally because the music is so appallingly awful that I am reduced to tears of genuine pain.

*This can be in (almost) any genre ... classical, pop, rock, metal, etc, etc ... but I am most often moved to tears by the sound of a beautiful voice in opera.

Music can definitely have an effect on me if I am in the right mood. I find its good to let emotion out, so it's all good.
