I know I know, Godwin's law. To hell with it.

Hitler became hugely popular by appealing to the "bad angel" of people and pointing his finger toward various groups of people as the "enemies" of Germany. He used extreme rhetoric that legitimate people's inner hatred at the time. And he lied right through his teeth about many things, but people didn't care because he's legitimizing their internal bigotry.

Trump has been saying things that are outrageous. He's gone after several different ethnic groups. He's made fun of the disabled. He's been lying right through his teeth about many things. The press really don't know what to do with all his lies. And now, he's saying very specifically that he will wipe out the families of terrorists.

The scary thing is the more of these outrageous things he says, the more popular he gets.

Are we seeing a new hitler dominating American politics?

I would not compare him to Hitler. He would be an utterly incompetent president, all hat and no cattle, but not one who seeks to destroy his country.

No. We don't.

Hitler's era was different, before there literally was politically correct speech in the sense of the modern use of it. Outright bigoted speech was the norm in his day, whether it won or not.

The post-WWI era was a time in Germany in which they were suffering from incredible inflation and were being ground into dust by the Allied Powers due to the unwise settlements that were exacted after Germany lost that war (too).

The U.S. had an economic depression in 2007 and following, even if the media were frightened off using the term, as it was certainly beyond the definition of recession. However, stagnation isn't the same as the hardships Germany faced. Americans are unhappy about this and that, but destitute, they are not. In fact, the poorest are the ones least likely to be backing Mr. Trump, as his professed policies hurt them most.

Mr. Trump is an anomaly, just a real-world farce made possible by his TV show, his ill-gotten billions, and his ego. He'll be blown away as the chaff he is just as soon as the real voting gets going. He's small-time despite his big mouth. The real politicians will make pate of him and serve him to the dogs.

Oh, and whatever you think is negated because of Godwin's law. Sorry, but my Internet Certification requires I state that explicitly. :p

He's probably more like Italy's Silvio Berlusconi than anyone else.

A corrupt and buffoonish media magnate with an appetite for new wives... Or so I heard.

Honestly, despite my disdain for the hypermilitarization of the U.S., I cannot see military leaders backing a moron like Trump. He simply isn't smart enough to be the Commander in Chief. We lampoon the military often, but their leaders are actually kinda smart, despite the no-win policies and strategies now and then.

You say he's an anomaly, but he's killing all other republican candidates in the polls. Jeb was suppose to be the forerunner is now at 3%. The more Trump lies and says things that are outrageous, the higher his numbers get.

And remember that many people predicted his numbers would reach the ceiling at 20 or so. And look what happened.

People are now saying no way in hell he can beat Hillary. Remember when we were talking about how Trump wasn't going to go over 20%?

But the military leaders don't vote. Uneducated morons do. By the masses. There was a CNN study I saw this morning that showed 48% of Trump supporters do not have a college degree while only 16% does. So, obviously his rhetoric is attracting the great multitude of the uneducated. And from my experience, the uneducated often times have a disdain of the educated.

The military leaders may not like Trump, but they are in the minute minority.

I think that Trump is analogous to Hitler in that he plays on the fears and anger of many people. Could he get elected? Never say never,
our country is not inoculated from stupidity.

The other Republican Candidates are not special, though. The only reason he is up on the polls over them is because he speaks louder than everyone else. The rest of them are like quiet little birds to begin with, then you throw him into the mix and they become non-existant, so it isn't a surprise he's leading.

And no, I still don't think he'll get elected.

He's not good at actually do anything, so when it comes down the real Political shit, he's going to look like a real fucking ass.

*Recognizing what I said, it is still too early to even begin to think anyone will get anywhere.

What leader since Hitler has undertaken to alter the ethnic make up of his electorate by authoritarian--or other-- means? Hint: his middle name is Hussein.

You are really losing it. Honest to Pete, I am actually starting to really worry about your state of mind and grip on reality.

The fact is, OP, that Trump is more of a Mussolini...a not very bright bully, but who is nevertheless a very, very dangerous demagogue. Or has been pointed out, a Berlusconi.

What he is doing though, is absolutely playing to the lowest common denominator in the American populace and thereby is legitimizing the corrosive racist grandstanding of the GOP base. With this genie out of the bottle, it is only a matter of time before the GOP comes out of the closet as a party only of the far right wing angry poorly educated and poorly informed white males.....and this is the group to fear the most.

Military leaders don't have a choice in "backing" a rightfully elected President. The United States is not some banana republic where Generals can overthrow our leader. Impeachment powers are given to Congress, not to the Deapartment of Defense. If Trump can't find any of the current Generals or Admirals to back him, then he will simply fire them all and promote new ones from the lower ranks, just like any President would, and has the right to do.

He is extremely terrorifying however, and unlike you I don't pretend that just because we have political correctness that somehow makes it impossible for Trump to be elected. The people who think PC has been taken too far in this country are quite real, and if Trump gets nominated we will get to see how many of them are actually out there. Scary times.

It is sad that you have probably been saying this for about 8 years. I would have considered your posts spam by now.

Don't worry so much, we let the educated morons vote as well...

I think that the term "moron" does little to aid the cause of those opposed to Trump winning. Those who would vote for Trump would never vote for Clinton.
