I don't watch the show. I live around rednecks so I get my daily dose of them and enough is enough. This is very telling as he is saying that prostitution is a female only thing. Which isn't surprosisng as the Bible endorses the practice of concubinage and sex slaves.

What Palin and her conservative ilk do not realize is that freedom of speech cuts both ways. You have a right to say whatever you want. However other people also have the right to use their freedom of speech to speak and disagree with you. Freedom of association gives us the right not to support or associate with people or businesses we don't like or whose views offend us.

Freedom of speech means that the GOVERNMENT isn't allowed to control speech.

The First Amendment has nothing to do with private and non-government entities. In fact, the Supreme Court has held that such entities are entirely ALLOWED TO LIE. (The FOX Tampa affiliate story from a few years ago, when they were allowed to lie about the safety or rBGH in milk, or GMO's in food, or something like that.)

I've never seen the show, but from what I've learned since this controversy, it sounds like an incredibly moronic thing to watch.

There's an even worse video I saw today on him ripping gays before a church crowd... if he claimed to be misunderstood or misinterpreted in the original interview, it seems like Mr. Robertson's neighborhood REALLY isn't a very welcoming one at all to those who don't fit his beliefs. He reaped what he sowed and if as it looks A&E has every right to pull him if they feel he doesn't reflect their values.

That said, on the left Martin Bashir deserved to be let go by MSNBC after his disgusting statement insinuating Sarah Palin literally should eat shit. A supposed professional journalist going low class like that just demeans his field and truly professional, great journalists like Edward R Murrow or Walter Cronkite would have been completely appalled by that crass conduct, and rightly so.

It is rich however regarding the outrage of some notable right wing personalities regarding free speech concerns when for example not too long ago Ellen de Generes was made public spokesperson for the department chain JC Penney and the American Family Council and their offshoot arm One Million Moms promoted a boycott of JC Penney for hiring her because they don't like that she's a lesbian. Didn't say anything controversial, or do anything... they just don't want an out gay or lesbian marketing to the general public because her sexuality (or as they would put it, her "lifestyle") offends them and shouldn't be seen as mainstream acceptable. So spare us any bleatings about censorship and being anti-Christian if one thinks Phil Robertson was not only wrong, but if A&E thinks in its own right they should no longer associate with Phil Robertson because he doesn't fit what they represent. Or is becoming a liability to them as more stuff about what the "affable" Duck Dynasty patriarch REALLY believes, which is becoming increasingly indefensible.

Both right and left are guilty of too often excusing the bad behavior of their own, while pummeling their opponent's behavior. However in this situation, while I do believe that Phil Robertson can learn from all this and it is possible for people to grow... he said some really bad things(remember, not only about gays but PAINFULLY insensitive remarks about how Jim Crow really wasn't so bad for blacks, among others) and a video where he just rips apart the gay rights movement to a church group has just popped up on YouTube. (as I refered earlier) Free speech means you face the consequences of what you say... not just an uninterrupted forum to speak it on end, without response.
