Eaglex Appreciation Thread

Good Saturday morning, @Araucaria!

Work: We have a new owner who doesn't pay overtime and switched everyone from direct deposit to paper checks. They are also trying to switch me from kitchen to food packing(getting the orders ready and in bags).

Home: Found out this week that my landlord possibly has 8 weeks to live(cancer). Also found out 1 of my freezers died. Our clothes washer needs to be replaced because it isn't fully wringing out the clothes every time so we have to finish by hand.

Hope all is well with you, my friend! Thank you for always checking in, I am grateful to have someone to talk to about everything.

Good Thursday morning Eaglex! (*8*)

It sounds like your have some new challenges at work. I suppose it could be good to switch to food packing if you want to do that, but perhaps not so good if you don't. The funny thing about overtime is that I've found with employers, they won't let you work overtime if you want it, but they'll make you work overtime when you don't want to. What's up with that?

I'm sorry to hear that your landlord may have only 8 weeks to live. Are they a personal friend? That might be hard to take. But if they're not really a friend, but just your landlord, that could mean problems ahead. If the landlord passes and the heirs don't want to manage the property or sell it, you might have to move. And with the freezer and the washer, do they belong to you or to the landlord? If they're yours, that means you'll have to shell out a lot of money to replace them. If the landlord owns them and is responsible for fixing and replacing appliances, they may be in no shape to take care of that if they're deathly ill.

I hope all is well with you.

Good Thursday morning, @Araucaria!

My Dad and the landlord are very good friends. I don't really know him, but he is a nice man. His children aren't old enough to take over, so I don't know who's going to. The washer and freezer are ours, so we're having to replace those.

Work is going ok, had to stay late yesterday because night shift didn't want to show up. But if I am able to clock out on time the next 2 days I will only have 39 hours so that will be good. Oh and I am not switched from the kitchen thanks to the GM my schedule isn't changing either.

Hope all is well with you, my friend.

Good Thursday morning, Eaglex! (*8*)

I hope you're doing OK, and that things have stabilized at work. The last time you wrote, it sounded like things were up in the air, with your possibly dying landlord and broken appliances. I hope things have settled down there.

Good Thursday evening, @Araucaria!

Work has not stabilized, we hired a bunch of new people that started this week. The GM was let go and the assistant manager was promoted(this happened on Monday.). Been training a few people on cooking and prepping product. Lost a few other coworkers too so mostly in the morning it is a bunch of new people, the manager, and me. But hopefully next week will be better.

Home: I just got home and found a package my dad had ordered on the porch which was cans of tuna and cans of chicken. Tried using the electric can opener and it isn't working. Tried every plug in I could, but not working at all, so I tried to find a hand use can opener but couldn't. Thankfully the chicken is pop top so I opened some of them for him instead.

I have also been running a fever for about a week, when I get up in the morning I don't feel it but after I clock out at work I feel the heat behind my eyes. I hate it, I hope it goes away soon.

Hope all is well with you, my friend!

Good Wednesday morning, Eaglex! (*8*)

I hope you're over your fever, and feeling well. It sounds like one of those things that's not bad enough for you to stay home and rest, but it makes you miserable by the end of the day. I had a cold toward the beginning of March, it wasn't terrible, but the symptoms lingered on for nearly the whole month. It got embarrassing sometimes, when I'd be out, and then have trouble with sneezing, a runny nose, and coughing. I think I'm finally over it now.

I also hope things at work are going smoothly, and all the changes have evened out. I take it you've had to buy a new electric can opener, and maybe a new hand-held one for backup. I have two electric can openers, and several hand-held ones. My Mother began to hoard some items toward the end of her life, so I have a couple of drawers full of the hand-held ones.

Good Wednesday night, @Araucaria!

My fever is still here and has only gotten worse. Can't really eat this week, usually for my before work meal I eat 3 frozen Eggo waffles but today I could only eat half. I also usually don't eat while on the clock working so it's like 10-12 hours before I eat again. After I got home last night I just couldn't bring myself to eat so I got like 1/3 of a piece of lunch meat chicken. Thankfully today I bought some cream of chicken soup that I can drink.

I did buy a handheld can opener on Saturday, however I didn't buy an electric one. We had a bunch of handheld ones for years, but somehow this year they disappeared.

I also just filed my taxes and found out the people who owned us last year didn't take enough taxes out so I have to pay 200+ for 1 and 58 for the other.

Work is going...not so great but it's still there. Hopefully tomorrow and Friday go great and I can clock out on time.

I'm sorry to hear about your cold, but I am glad to hear you are over it. Hope all is well with you, my friend.

Good Saturday morning, Eaglex! (*8*)

I hope everything is going well with you, that you're over your fever, and that all is good at both home and work.

Good Saturday morning, @Araucaria!

I am over my fever finally. Found out my landlord has 8 months instead of 8 weeks while still terrible better than it could have been.

I am currently looking for a new job because this place is just getting more and more hectic. Was hoping I had an in at Dominos, but turnz out I don't. Checked with my former GM yesterday and she isn't currently employed yet. So I might see if I can get on at my oldest brother's job, which I will then be on nights and working Tuesday through Saturday with him. But anything will be better than where I am. We keep running out of things because they are doing 1 truck a week on Saturdays.

Hope all is well with you, my friend!

Good Saturday morning, Eaglex! (*8*)

I hope all is well with you, and that you've been able to get a new job. Sometimes things get so bad at your old job that you know it's time to go. I once worked at Domino's in the '80s, and I'm kind of surprised you couldn't get on there. Back when I worked there they always needed drivers, so basically if you had a car and a valid driver's license you got hired. Maybe it's a tougher job market these days.

Good Saturday morning, @Araucaria!

What I was trying to to say about getting hired at Dominos is I thought I knew someone who worked there as the GM who was willing to hire me without me having to go through the whole application then interview process, but he now works as a mechanic.

I am still at Popeyes, but trying to figure out where to apply. I might try Wendy's, Saw 1 with a now hiring sign on Thursday.

I'm just glad it's Saturday. Got some Little Caesars last night that should last all day today and maybe have some for tomorrow which makes me very happy.

Hope all is well with you, my friend.

Good Saturday morning, Eaglex! (*8*)

I hope you're doing OK, and that your job search is going well. I hope you've been able to ditch Popeye's, if not, hang on until you can. Little Caesar's is a place that you can get a good pizza at a decent price, and usually have plenty left over for lunch the next day.

Good Saturday evening, @Araucaria!

I haven't gotten a new job yet, however I am still looking. Unfortunately that means yes I am still at Popeyes.

I also had some dental woes this week, started Wednesday morning when I got up I felt a pain in my mouth. It feels like it was a nerve where a tooth used to be, but I'm not sure. Thankfully I had some Orajel to use which helped, but not much. However when I woke up yesterday my pain was gone.

Hopefully your dental woes will be over sooner rather than later too.

Hope everything else is going well with you, my friend.

Good early Sunday morning, Eaglex! (*8*)

I hope everything is well with you, that you've got a new job, or at least things are somewhat tolerable at Popeye's until you can get a new one. I hope that dental pain issue has gone away.

Good Sunday morning, @Araucaria!

Work: It's been one hell of a week. But hopefully it will be better this week.

Home: Monday evening my mom went to the hospital for her diverticulitis. She was there until Thursday, thankfully she's feeling better, not in as much pain. My dental pain is gone now.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles you're having. Hopefully everything gets better soon, my friend.
