Eaglex Appreciation Thread

Happy Monday morning, @Araucaria!

I have no clue how to get Mom on Medicare. And so we tried to see if Dad was on Medicaid, but he's not. So he said he was looking into sone stuff to get me on as Paid Caregiver, but not sure how that's going.

I have been contacted by a former GM who is working at a different place than where we worked together and he said I am hired of I want a job. He's going to call me at about 8am so we can discuss details.

Also on Friday night we had a bad thunderstorm and a lightning strike took out our modem, so Saturday I took it back to Xfinity store and got a new one. They tried to hard sell me on switching our phones to them too, but we're not. They also told me we could reduce our bill if we switched it to one of my other family members names, but I did not.

I hate that you're having issues, hopefully you have a better week this week my friend.

I hope you've been able to get that job that the former GM offered you. That sounds like your best option from what you've been saying. It sounds like your Mom and Dad are not on Medicare and Medicaid, so there appears to be no mechanism in place to make you a paid caregiver. I think you automatically go on Medicare when you hit 65, but you have to have a disability or financial need for Medicaid, and your parents would have to go through a lengthy application process with the state, and who knows when they'd make a decision?

I'm glad you were able to get a new modem after the storm. I do not trust Comcast/Xfinity with their cell phone offer. They'll get you on it with their offer, and then turn around and charge you even more than you're paying now once you've signed up.

I believe I've got the job at IHOP, just gotta go fill out the paperwork this afternoon after 2:30pm.

Dad is on Medicare. Mom is not, she is 65 as of this year(May). I don't understand it, but that's what I know.

I am doing good.

Hopefully you won't have to get a root canal.

Job Update: I am hired at IHOP and the location I am hired at (according to Google) is open 24hrs.

My job is great. I get there by 7 and sit on my phone until like 9-9:30, clock in do prep until like 1 or later then go home. So much less stress than Popeyes.

I am doing well. My job is great, I have a wonderful coworker who is willing to bring me home whenever we work together because we love so close to each other and I don't drive. The only thing that would be able to improve my job is another shirt.

Things are going well, the only problem right now is we've been so slow this week I haven't been getting a lot of hours. Like yesterday I clocked in at 7am and was off by 11am. Other than that everything is great.

Last Friday after I clocked out my GM told me until business picked back up I wouldn't be working 5 days so this week I only worked 3 days and got like 21 hours.

Learned yesterday that my landlord isn't doing well and is possibly going into a facility(not sure what specific type.) soon so we might be out of our place by the end of the year. Other than that my family and I are doing well.

I hope you've been getting more hours at IHOP, but you can't really help it if business is slow. I know that business patterns vary a lot depending on what part of the city you're in, what part of the country you live in, whether your regulars live in the area or you get a lot of tourists, seasonal patterns, etc. Plus the economy seems to be slowing down, and that's never good, because then your customers don't come in.

I'm sorry to hear about your landlord will need to live in a facility. It does sound like you must be prepared to move if he passes away, since the heirs likely won't want to take over the rentals. It would be a good time to save up all your money, but that's difficult if you're not getting many hours at work. I hope your family continues to do well.

p. s. That's a nice, handsome dude that suffered the werewolf attack, or whatever it was. I'd love to take my sweet time dressing up his wounds. :drool:

I got a few more hours this week, but it was still only 3 days. Not sure what my schedule will be for next week because it hasn't been posted yet. They finally started to teach me how to cook before I left work on Friday.

I know, I'm afraid we'll have to move soon too. I just hope we'll get enough money to find a place before he dies.
