Some of the earlier stuff is great but they had to work with film, which was OK if the director knew how to light a scene. But many didn't. The Nova shorts still hold up because we can actually see the action; Higgins couldn't light a scene so half of his stuff is barely visible and cannot compare to modern techniques.
