I've had one. If I was embarrassed, it wasn't due to his effeminancy (?) so much as his lack of social skills. He seemed incapable of learning some of the most fundamental social "cues" that most of us pick up naturally, and even when told "in general, people get uncomfortable or weirded out when you do this sort of thing", he wouldn't get it. As such, he often stepped on a fair number of tails.
