Elena Kagan Nominated to US Supreme Court [MERGED]

You don't nominate someone just for the sake of balancing the Court's religious beliefs. That's insane. This is exactly what the progressive wingnuts want.

I have no doubt that somewhere out there is an eminently qualified atheist out lesbian who is also a respected jurist and constitutional scholar.

And balance is something your increasingly divided and paralyzed country needs. It is time to see all sides of an issue and create consensus. Because what you currently have sucks.

Elena Kagan Nails the Injustice of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

But with all due respect to Sen. Sessions, Elena Kagan schooled him. Like Fred Astaire taking on Kate Gosselin in a dance contest.

"I respect and indeed revere the military. My father was a veteran. One of the great privileges of my time at Harvard Law School was dealing with all these wonderful students we had who served in the military, and students who wanted to go into the military. And I always tried to make sure that i conveyed my honor to the military," said Kagan, in response to Sen. Sessions. "But I also felt indeed to defend our school's very long-standing anti-discrimination, and protect the students who were meant to be protected by that policy: the gay and lesbian students who wanted to serve in the military and do that most honorable kind of service."

Then, to completely clear the air and make it as point blank for Sen. Sessions as she possibly could, Kagan also said during her testimony that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is an abhorrent policy.

"Sen. Sessions, I have repeatedly said that I believe 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' is unwise and unjust. I believed it then and I believe it now," Kagan said. Cue the refreshing burst of honesty when it comes to politics inside the Beltway.

Ms. Kagen's appointment to the Supreme Court will be yet ANOTHER victory for President Obama. ..| One success after another, and he's not even half-way through his first term.

Man oh man, the people elected a good one this time! :=D:

I'll respond to that the same way I responded to the mindless gloating of Bush's supporters a quarter of the way through his second term. Payback is a bitch. The Republicans (In some form or another) will be back in power sometime and it's not going to be pretty.

Barack Obama is not the man we elected. That man had some restraint and humility (Though admittedly not much). But then, candidates always do. Obama is running on inertia and propaganda. Not the will of the people. If you want to dispute that (And I'm sure you will), fine. But it's the simple truth. The majority of the public would be against Obama if they could discern his true nature. And sooner or later, it will be too damned obvious to avoid.

Agreed. Obama hoodwinked the masses of American's who wanted something new and refreshing. He's already shown his blatant disregard for American opinion; going against the public on the Health Care bill, the AZ immigration bill, KSM trial, etc.

Almost half-way into his Presidency and he's yet to accomplish anything. Maybe repealing DADT will be his defining moment.

The most comprehensive health care reform in a half century isn't exactly "nothing".

Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it wasn't accomplished.

It's not just me that doesn't agree with it, it's the majority of Americans

Again, your statement was wrong though. It was a big accomplishment.

If you agree with it, you're likely to see it as a big improvement. If you disagree, you're more likely to see it as a big step in the wrong direction.

The one thing it was clearly not was insignificant.

What a fucking laugh riot this is.

At the first opportunity, it becomes another partisan hate fest instead of being about the original topic.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this looks?

Standard American politics. Remember how the issue of abortion nearly kept the health care bill from passing? We just have no capacity to stay on topic and lack the ability to not engage in a partisan mud fight. It's a country full of 'my side' vs 'your side' uninformed, poorly educated ADHD fools. What's not to like?

Liberal MSM shill.

How do you connect the dots between the AZ immigration bill and Obama?
