Elizabeth Taylor passes away

i don't listen to the radio and i don't watch tv that much

That seems rather obvious. Additionally, you seem to not watch movies either. You probably never have heard of Clark Gable or Vivian Leigh either. Before the late Ms. Taylor was a "gay icon" she was a superb actor loved and admired by the movie-going public - even heterosexuals! Think of her as another Roberto Benigni. :rotflmao:

no i don't know who these actors that you mentioned are, probably american know them because they are american i guess.i can assure you that in italy, the average person DO NOT know who this woman was.they might even have heard of her, just as an american foreign thing, but it is not as mickel jackson, hillary clinton, and other american personalities.what i mean is that this woman was never popular AT LEAST in the city where i was born and grew out,and after living in a city where the majority is easily from latin america for 14 years,i can assure you that most of them have never seen a movie made by this woman in their whole life.

Elizabeth Taylor is being remembered in Italy today as the world mourns her passing. The screen legend died Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital at the age of 79.

Taylor made headlines in Italy during the filming of Cleopatra in 1962. While shooting on location in Rome, Taylor began a not-so-secret love affair with her costar, Richard Burton. The two internationally famous actors were both married to other people at the time, and their relationship sparked outrage. An official condemnation from the Vatican accused them as 'erotic vagrancy.' The couple was often spotted along the Amalfi Coast, including the island of Capri.

After two and a half years, the actors were both finally divorced and free to marry each other in 1964. They would go on to star in several more films together before divorcing in 1970. One of these other major block busters was 1967's The Taming of the Shrew. The feature was directed by Franco Zeffirelli and set in Padua, bringing Taylor back to Italy once more.

I guarantee you an average person on your city knows how Elizabeth Taylor is. I think you're just an idiot who's been living under a rock. Just the mere fact that you said she's a singer says it all. Her death is HUGE news all over the world right now, in every country. She's been a star for 60 years now and one of the biggest Hollywood ever had! Everyone around the world knows her except you!

Giacomo, how ironic!

It was your Pope who scolded Liz and Dick for their adulterous affair in his city of Rome in 1963 which fanned the scandal and ignited her into a career celebrity more than a movie star

Li'l Bit is somewhat depressed by the way some people seem to revel in their own ignorance...

A true lady of the silver screen. The first in Hollwood to speak up in the issue of AIDS long before Reagan could say the word AIDS.

14 Year Old Interview With Elizabeth Taylor....more details now

And James Dean? "I loved Jimmy. I'm going to tell you something, but it's off the record until I die. OK? When Jimmy was 11 and his mother passed away, he began to be molested by his minister. I think that haunted him the rest of his life. In fact, I know it did. We talked about it a lot. During Giant we'd stay up nights and talk and talk, and that was one of the things he confessed to me."

Erm, the Pope in 1963 was either John XXIII or Paul VI, both Italians. And Pat is an Aussie not an American.

Elizabeth Taylor was nothing but a money-hungry egotistical actress, like most of them.

Holy ducking shit, she's worth more than a billion?! That's mind-boggling for an actor. Must have had genius investors working for her.

$600m to AIDS research is just amazing. What a wonderful woman.
