This video is quickly making its rounds on the internet but all craziness aside, epic beard guy is pretty hot.

Actually, yes he did. When he was still at the front of the bus, and the old man was getting off, he was saying how next time he'd beat his ass. But regardless, I wish I could have caught the beginning of this argument. I think the perspective could be a little twisted. It opened with "Why you gotta tell a black man to spit shine your shoes?", so I think the white guy could have honestly provoked the argument. But who knows. Awesome video anyway. I don't know why you'd mess with that old man, that beard demands respect.

I agree, the beginning of the video is a bit sketchy and I wish there was more. From the very beginning you can hear the beard guy asking the black guy "How much will you charge me for a spit shine? How much will you charge me for a spit shine?" And then he said "Chinaman", hahaha. Regardless, I don't think he should've followed the old guy as he was getting up. He was asking for a fight!

I can't seem to find a link now but there was a SF Gate article where witnesses explained some of the stuff earlier we couldn't see. The black dude got on the bus and EBM was slouched leaning on his knees in his seat. BD said "get out the way SHINY!" which is apparenlty along the lines of "pinky" or "cracker" but it's a new one for me. So EMB follwed him back and asked him to shine his shoes..and there's where we pick up with the video.

I love seeing a bully get burned and the whole "amber lamps" phenomenon on youtube is fascinating to me. I wonder when that girl is going to come out in the press. That dude thought he was picking on some old white guy who turned out to be a disturbed Vietnam vet that knows how to handle himself. Millions now get to watch him be a worthless coward as he suffers the wrath of the beard.

"Shiny?" Yeah, that's new for me too. Thanks, it helps to know a bit more. Whatever was said, he definitely shouldn't have followed EBM after he moved to the front of the bus.
 
My question is what the hell was the bus driver doing this whole time??? You would figure he/she would pull over if there's yelling like that! hahah I guess not!

Just to clear it up for you: A "shoe shine" (whether EBM meant it to be so or not) is a very obvious reference to the days of "shoe-shine boys" where young black men would basically set up shop on the street to shine the shoes of passersby, who were more often than not white. It's generally a very demeaning thing to say to a black person. In addition he also used the term "Chinaman" which is also a pretty rude term to refer to Asians.

When I first watched it I thought EBM was in the wrong for saying that, but there is more to it than that. Apparently the black guy hurled a racist remark himself in the first place (before the video begins), and that's what got it started. To EBM's credit, he DID walk away, and the other guy continued going when he should have just let it go.
 
The Epic Beard guy seemed more reasonable in that he walked away. The women the black guy was with had very strange reactions to the whole thing, which was very classless. Also, if I were Epic, I would have punched them in their faces for filming me on a public bus.

Oh! My mistake, I just wanted to make sure everyone was understanding what was going on. But yeah, the whole thing was messed up. And you're right, we don't know what was really said.

I don't really follow 4chan regularly (I'm usually only on /x/ for the creepy stories/comics that are posted there) but I think in order to get the connection you don't really have to, it's pretty well-known that 4chan came up with the phrase/meme "Epic Fail Guy" and the similaritiy is kinda striking, so...
