Re: The new Evanescence single.

oh, my bad...back to topic:

the single is ok, i've heard it a few times already. i think it just needs to grow on me.

Re: The new Evanescence single.

I happen to LOVE Evanescence..Their old Origin stuff, their Fallen stuff and the new single. Besides, Amy Lee said it's impossible to predict the entire album based on one song, because each song is so different.

And don't call they're new single bullshit. You don't have to like it, just say that. No need to insult it, especially for those who DO like it.

All i'm saying is you don't have to like them, but they seem to be doing SOMETHING right..

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Wind Up is a sub-label of Epic which is owned by Sony, and they won't care if it was you who leaked it if it's you who's distributing it.

Just sayin'.

Sony wouldn't be the first record label trying to sue me. lol

Sony sure likes fucking people with their "Copyright Protected CDs".
Fucked up my OS. I also couldn't claim the rebates I was entitled to AND! When I got somethign else from them...it had the same software on it and fucked my OS again.

Sony pisses me off.

In case you want to bypass a copy protection that will let your pc crash (such as Celine Dion), you can connect your pc with your audio cd-player, provided your cd-player has a digital-out and your soundcard has a digital-in. Download a program called "Feurio" and use the 'record audio data'-option. "Total Recorder" is also able to record from line-in.

If your audio cd-player has no digital-out or your soundcard has no digital-in, you could still connect the two the analog way. Just connect the line-out cinch-plug with the line-in minijack-plug of your soundcard. Again use Feurio or Total Recorder to record incoming audio data. The disadvantage of this method is you are copying in the analog domain, your digital data is converted twice which might degrade the resulting copy. In practice an analog copy can be very good, but undoubtedly, the digital one is better! So go for the digital copy! ..|

up to you, really.

Just so you know that dealing with Sony is a lot different than dealing with Warner or some crappy independent label.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Weird, it worked for me a couple of times, and I have XP.

On the other hand, a lot of things seem to work on my computer, where others experience technical difficulties. :?

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Aww, it doesn't work anymore. I was so excited too xD.

Can anyone maybe re-post it?

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Try the second link. Post #14.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Thanks, and I downloaded it.

I must say I was very disappointed. There are only a few songs I like on this album, namely "Sweet Sacrifice", "Weight Of The World", "Lithium", "Call Me When You're Sober", and "All That I'm Living For".

I relate and love "Fallen" much more than "The Open Door". Hopefully a third album from Evanescence will be much more appealing to me.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Yeah, I have to say after a few listens that it's a bit too much like a band trying to sound like the first Evenesence album... kinda... songs are ok, but they sound like copies of the songs on the first album.

Amy Lee doesn't sound as angst-filled and now just kinda sounds like she's in there complaining on every track about how her back hurts.

Production is a little flat.

I still find myself singing songs from the first album, but I can't even really remember anything on this record at all.

Glad I got it for free.

Dude, you don't seem to be familiar with the Evanescence discography at all! I just hate it when people reduce Evanescence to "Fallen" and forget about the prior material. #-o

1. Evanescence EP (realeased 1998)
2. Sound Asleep / Whisper EP (released 1999)
3. Origin (released 2000)
4. Fallen (released 2003)
5. The Open Door (2006)

There's also numerous demos and various unreleased material available!

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

I saw Amy Lee interviewed and she got pissed when people called Origin an album.

Those were demos and not ever meant to get released... "Fallen" was their first album.. and she chastized the guy in the audience for saying that he coudln't find it in stores and told him that nobody was ever meant to hear any of that... it's all just demos.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

It was never meant to get released? Then why let BigWig Enterprises print a few thousand copies to sell them at concerts if nobody was ever meant to hear any of that?

On MTV germany's TRL Amy didn't seem to mind their fans knowing about Origin and the two EPs. She even encouraged people to download rather than buy them (since there are so many overpriced pirated bootlegs of Origin available everywhere). The only thing Amy ever got pissed about (to my knowledge at least) was Ben leaking the song "You".

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

It was on Much Music and she actually rolled up a piece of paper to look like a bull horn and shouted "ORIGIN IS NOT AL ALBUM" at him.

but they acutally released the CD to counter the Bootleggers, really.

Just like Frank Zappa and Pearl Jam did.

It was never meant to be heard by anyone, but once it got out.. well, it got out.. nothing they could do.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

I love Evanescence and I can actually say that my favorite song is "Anywhere" from the Origin cd that wasn't supposed to be released.

I love the fact that Evanescence can have such a variety of sounds.

I love every single song they've ever recorded and I can honestly say I probably have every known song.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

I DID Know about Origin and all of their other earlier work by the way...

Two of my favourite songs are Anywhere and Field Of Innocence..

But Soilwork is right, Amy doesn't include Origin or any of their work before Fallen an album..

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Those songs are probably the best ones...All the rest sound very alike and are much slower.

However they are starting to grow on me. :D I used to not like Snow White Queen, but now after reading about the truth and reasons behind it and looking at the lyrics, it's taken on a whole new, creepier theme on me.

Same with Cloud Nine and Like You... I have to say that Your Star, Lose Control, The Only One, and Good Enough don't really do anything for me though.

Where did you find the lyrics?

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Cloud Nine is awesome. When I first heard it, I was like "Wow, this is really wierd", but then I listened to it again and again and and though "This is probably the coolest song I have ever heard". Also, Good Enough is a lot different than anything I've heard them do. It is very soulful and the string remind me a lot of the score from the movie A Beautiful Mind. I could see it being used as a song in a movie. The whole album is fantastic.
