BR and HDdvd are equal in price. I already have a BR-Player, so I am not going to invest another grand for a combo-player for only *one* movie I'd like to have being released on HDdvd.

...And for the record, the Toshiba HD-A1 isn't capable of 1080p (but most BR-Players are) And Toshiba wants to get rid of those models to make room for a new one, that's why it is so cheap.

You don't have to buy an extra large screen to fully enjoy HD. Neither do you have to buy the most expensive one. Almost every brand has their entry class models, affordable for almost everyone (ranging between $ 400 - 600).
All that matters is the use of the right equipment, the right cabling and the viewing distance. Sitting too close to a large screen is not ideal. The optimal distance to a 50" screen would be at least 16-18 feet.
Fine. It would be nice if you could save your replies exclusively for threads of political or social issues as well.
And btw, I wasn't one of those who starved themselves for Sanjaya.

Still way under the price range of Blueray Players and even if the discs were equal in price it wouldn't do any good with outh the players.
Seriously I'm not saying bueray sucks or that hddvd is better just that the price isn't worth it. If they were truly equal in price trust me I would have Blueray.
Nope I think I'll reply wherever I damn well please including when I think things are ridiculous to the point of being humorous. But don't worry the one man protest that paramount doesn't even realize is happening will def cut into their profits big time.
It's not my one man protest that will cut into their profits, but their making a wrong decision.
Look:

This whole argument really makes me chuckle. By the time they finish arguing someone will launch a player that will play either format.
