@Saskaguy,
I wouldn't say the biggest problem is a false accusation of rape. The biggest problem would be rape. 'Their life is now ruined' my ass. Of the two, one is significantly more difficult. People are investigated routinely as part of their job qualifications or history with a subject - having someone rifle through your past isn't that type of traumatic. Nor is taking a blow to your ego in that manner the end of the world - you make it sound like no-one gets accused of heinous shit they haven't done before.
Take your 'it's an insult to rape victims!' and put a bow or something on it, it's not masquerading as care the way it was once able to. Call it a lack of belief and then perhaps check out why people are calling your views misogyny. It isn't cuz you're a cut above the rest viewpoint wise and they're just jealous.
One second, there's a list here somewhere....it isn't like Morrissey et-al brings up new shit about this topic - or that you bring up new shit for the topic at hand, come to that -
Aha, there we go. If you want male victims taken more seriously perhaps you should stop pissing on the female ones by claiming 'high false accusations' and 'lives ruined' (but never the rape victim's lives, people are o-so-careful about that. There's a list, and if you manage to hit all the checkboxes of Legitimate Rape' you still get dumped in the bin of "Well, what did you expect, rly".
Nothing tells victims (of rapists or otherwise) "I'm here for you!" like saving discussions of non-consent, law, accusations and social opinion by always focusing that mra-laser-like scrutiny on 'saving' the handful of people who didn't do anything - as opposed to all those untested rape kits, the lack of taking reports and general treatment of rape victims. Saving was in deliberate quotations, as there's particular history around that aspect when shoving other intersections in. You'll notice only some people seem to deserve saving - and it generally settles on intrinsic shit, though, not always.
Where's your high number of false accusations, by the way? The data go anywhere from two to ten percent. I suspect the number just fluctuates around the middle, ect ect. So, five out of every hundred people, roughly speaking.
That's a lot now, is it? While the rest of it continues to get painted as 'justice being done', despite few arrests, fewer prosecutions and very, very few convictions, you're worried that the handful of innocents might be judged 'just as harshly' in a social atmosphere as actual rapists. I notice jail wasn't mentioned for all that - so it isn't jail you're worried about. Just social perception after they walk.
Well, few worries there, no one gives a shit about actual consequences for rape! So no need to worry your pretty little head about those nasty social implications after a favored celebrity gets accused. Not much'll happen, all things considered.
