He was joking...if he seriously was insulting you and insinuating that you were a "fag" then I'm sure he would have worded it differently.

So judge how you want, but I'm a black gay man and in my gay circle the words Fag, Faggy, Homo are heavily used, almost as much as the N word is used in my black circle. Non of us take offense to it at all. And personally, I call my straight friends gay, homo or fag all the time. It's all fun and games nothing serious, not to mention know when someone is purposely trying t hurt you.

If you can't joke about bigotry, sexism and racism then thats a major problem.

But yeah, that was not cool lol.

To sum up, I do realize that i have overreacted ALOT her, and to tell u the truth i do regret it. He is an awesome friend and im lucky to still have him as a friend. I have learned from this, but when im at my lowest, the slightest thing can trigger me to react like this. thanks to all of you, even though some were kinda unhelpful it still made me evaluate my actions. I am not too worried he knows im gay, i never hid it, i just dont like anything negative written on my page. And im ethnic, and me and him are always racist to each other :P
 
Awesome. He insults you with a homophobic remark so you make your point by insulting him with a racist remark.

Don't lash out on him because you're insecure. Don't bother arguing that you're not, or you wouldn't of let such a trivial message get to you.
 
What you should have done is sent him a private message explaining that you really don't find those kind of remarks funny on a public website. Then you should have drove home, went to his house and removed his fucking head. Taken said head and beaten his mother with it until she begged for mercy while screaming: "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK WITH MY FACEBOOK...LOOK AT WHAT HE MADE ME DO!"

You know what op, I will show you some COMPASSION because I can understand where you were coming from. You were emotional, overreacted, and offended. None of that is a crime but it is also not an excuse. You shouldn't have made the racist comments that you made to your friend. I can understand why you reacted that way though. The word "fag" isn't funny and I don't think it should be tolerated whether someone is joking or not. It would have been best to express that to him instead of firing back at him with hate.

Try not to fly off the handle next time, but I won't fault you or point fingers at you on and on like some posts on here. Some people are just so damn high and mighty. As if they haven't overreact and said things they didn't mean before. Ugh.

Everybody is ethnic. Good friends who agree can buzz each other with ethnic jokes, as long as they understand the game. He probably figures good friends can also buzz each other with gay jokes. He was just following the rules you both already use.

huh? I am confused how so many people are brushing off the fact that the guy called him a fag.... why is his friends behavior so acceptable? I don't care what the guy figured it's not cool and the op didn't think so either.

No one is brushing it off. But there is a right way to straighten someone out and there is a wrong way. The OP chose the wrong way.

If you don't want someone to call you a Fag, then tell them. Quietly. Clearly. Without screaming or hysterics. Tell them why it isn't cool and that you won't tolerate it. In short, behave like an adult.

If I was joking and somebody sent me that response, I'd assume it was proof they were gay.

First off, it's a pretty long response for a small joke. Second, it sounds kind of bitchy and feminine anyway...

hmm..It may not have been cool for him to say that..I wudnt like it in a way especially not being out..I think u should have deleted the comment & private message him about it...the response...wud have made it more clear that u maybe gay..even to others reading :)...
