It's interesting that so many Christians are their own worst enemies, and that they pick and choose the lessons of the Bible.

If you read the article this is really about the British authorities reacting against Islam.

It wasn't against Islam. It was a response to what was done, and they wanted to make sure the same thing isn't happening for the LGBT community:

But a spokesman insisted Ofsted, which has introduced the new rules the wake of the Islamist Trojan Horse plot to radicalise pupils in Birmingham, was right to ensure schools were not breeding grounds for homophobia.

Bad Education

Zahra and Salma Halane were indoctrinated at one of the 'Trojan Horse' schools.

They didn't run away to their 'home' country; they ran away to the country where they were told they were needed more.

About time ... but a bit late ... we already have a generation of religiously-indoctrinated, brainwashed, homophobic/sexist/racist kids thanks to these hate-schools being allowed to prosper in UK.

Yes. And, of course, they breed more. More and faster. The number of immigrants having babies has doubled since 2001.The spike in the birth rate is biggest in London, where six in ten babies are now born to immigrants each year. One can't turn a blind eye to the facts.

I went to a faith-based school between the ages of 5 and 11, although admittedly it was only the C of E. They didn't succeed in turning me into a Christian or a Heterosexual.

Weren't you telling us that the Church of England is fairly relaxed and didn't even require its adherents to believe in god?

I may have been stretching the point slightly, but basically that's true. ;)

I think of the Church of England as being rather complacent and that the English people are a tolerant people. And that they are now being used.

The parochial schools have survived for centuries. Their leaders and clergy are some of the most politically savvy in the realm. They're not on the brink of going out of business.

Whether the inspections are anti-Moslem by intent, it will nonetheless be the effect.

I don't doubt that this is exactly as the Department of Education intended. Otherwise, why reassure the boards of religious schools thar they don't have to be afraid of being forced to teach gay rights?

Recently, we've closed some truly awful and laughably corrupt Islamic schools in the Netherlands as well.

But it also applies to other faith denominations which espouse such rubbish. The government can be selective in their response singling out just Islam.

The political risk would be too high. These new rules are much 'safer' and would achieve much the same thing.

So did I, but I dabble in Christianity.

....but I dabble in Christianity.

So do at least 75% of the so-called Christians. They really don't have enough knowledge of what they claim to believe so they have to fill it in with what they think the Bible says, or what someone else "believes" is in it. In the end they've merely created their own religion based on whim and confusion.

Faith, or free schools have in the past been given too much leeway when it comes to teaching degeneration about not only sexuality
but also forced religion. You attend school for an education, not to be taught to hate that which is different.

Most Protestants know what's in the Bible passably well. Even those that are otherwise uneducated.

True ... also many atheists, agnostics, pagans, heathens, satanists, etc, etc know what is in the bible .. and quite often that is what caused them to become atheists, agnostics, pagans, heathens, satanists, etc, etc. However, in my experience, a lot of catholics seem to have little idea what the bible contains.

This is because the Roman Catholic church discouraged if not forbade laymen reading the Bible. If a conversation my mother had with an Austrian girl is to be believed that even continued well into the eighties.

Perhaps, but so many of them ignore (or misinterpret) so much of it. They use only those bits which are beneficial to their agenda and forget the rest. For instance, they use The Golden Rule and 'Judge not lest ye be judged' only when it suits them, and those 'lessons' never seem to apply to themselves.
