Re: Are the 90's still alive?

The '80's gave us "The Golden Girls" :D

The '90's gave us "The Golden Palace" #-o

LOL, I'm glad I got to be a teen in the '80's rather than the 90's.

Re: Are the 90's still alive?

I saw a music video for one of Britney's new songs last night and I honestly cannot believe that is considered music.

Even if there is a melody and a beat, the melody is boring and the beat sucks

Re: Are the 90's still alive?

Hey, the 90's gave me Pete & Pete, Freakazoid and Are You Afraid Of The Dark.

I was happy for those.

And Rocko's Modern Life!!! I loved that show as a child!

Re: Are the 90's still alive?

the 90s give me alex mack, power rangers( 1 season), rugrats and harry potter!

Re: Are the 90's still alive?

bubblegum pop?, why, why, why?

lets talk about REAL music

I hate when people say that. Music is music good or bad.

Anyway's the 90's are alive.....In your heart.

Re: Are the 90's still alive?

I miss the '90s. Everything was much simpler. We had Kenan and Kel, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug (before he went to high school *shivers*), Hey Arnold, Aaaah! Real Monsters, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Legend of the Hidden Temple.....Nickelodeon was in its prime then.

The music was iffy. I was caught up a bit in the bubblegum pop, but nowhere near as my best friend. He had to buy every pop album...he was supposed to be straight, but there were times I questioned his straightness.

To answer the question, though, I don't think bubblegum pop is returning as bubbly as it was. It's more sexy and upfront about its sexiness. Back then, pop songs had so many innuendos that I know I didn't pick up on until I grew up and matured. Now, through influences of rap/r&b, pop has become more mature. I don't think it could ever return to the way it was. It's like trying to bring back any other died out generation of music.

Also, for those claiming bubblegum pop wasn't real music, Get. Over. It. It's not your taste of music, that's fine, but you really don't have to make snyde remarks. It wasn't a question about whether the music lives up to your standards, it was a question of is bubblegum pop making a return.

Forgive me if I rambled, it's fairly early in the morning/late at night, and I'm sleepy

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

Ace of Base - The Sign

Doesn't get much more 90s than that.

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

Just bored and thought I'll start a thread devoted to the music of the 90's. So post videos and discuss. Just make sure to post the name of the artist and song.

Sublime - "Santeria" (1997)

Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (1991)

fuckin LOVE those 2 songs right there...especially Santeria.
i was all about R&B during the 90's. LIVED for girl-group Total. the song they did with LL Cool J -- "Loungin" has been my die-hard favorite song, since it 1st came out in '96.

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

The late 90's were the best for me. I was in middle school and just discovering this freedom I never really had and boy it was fun!

I loved the teeny pop craze! Britney, Christina, Nsync, Broke Straight Boys, 5ive, 98 Degrees, Jessica, Samantha, Steps, A-Teens etc!

It was sooo much fun!

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

I find that the music of the 90's was so versatile. There were so many different 'phases', which made is interesting.

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

Total - "What About Us"

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

I love Erykah Badu, but she's a little like Stevie Nicks in that I often don't know what the hell she's talking about :)

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

I think SWV and 702 were SO much better than Total... but i miss the groups all the same.

702 - Steelo

SWV - Rain

i'll admit....they both had more natural talent, but Total just had that vibe though. i was OBSESSED with those bitches!!!

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

U-N-I-T-Y is what its all about LoL

Anyway, some of my contributions:

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight

Love Fool - The Cardigans

A Long December - Counting Crows

Glycerine - Bush

This Is How We Do It - Montell Jordan

Sorry Getting Carried Away.....

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

anybody remember pre-teen boy-band Another Bad Creation? i used to rock "Iesha" so hard!!! i wonder if any of those boys grew up to be hot.....

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

I'm trying to forget all the boybands. I prefered the R&B groups. :)

112 - Cupid

The Fugees - Ready Or Not

well um...ABC actually was R&B. i just said "boy band" because they were a group of little boys in a band. like an elementary school version of Boys II Men or New Edition.

Re: 90's Flashback Thread

Well since you mention Hole, I'll thrown in Celebrity Skin

Marcy Playground - Sex & Candy

LL Cool J - Doin' It

Speaking of boy bands and RnB...anyone remember Soul 4 Real? Candy Rain

Sarah Mclachlan - Building A Mystery, love it, but still no clue what its about
