Re: Ladies and Gentlemen...Miss Grace Jones

If I had to pick one song that I feel I came out to it
would prolly have to be her version of La Vie en Rose

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen...Miss Grace Jones

I love Grace Jones! Real unique, bold, fierce and outrageous -- and I still bump many of her songs.

.....and yes, she was indeed the original! :gogirl:

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen...Miss Grace Jones

Johnny Carson held up Grace Jones' album, the one with her mouth extended with a car coming out of it, sneered at the photo and said he had never heard of Grace Jones. He then asked John Ritter if he had ever heard of Grace Jones and John Ritter said: "Oh, sure I have". John Ritter referred to Grace Jones' music and the photo books of her.

You have to wonder how Grace Jones could have been booked on the Tonight Show without Carson's knowledge and approval.

the point here being that Grace Jones was, unfortunately, more than a little bit too far ahead of her time. The music industry was still pretty much segregated into Black / R&B Music and White Music. And, no one was prepared to take a former model seriously as a singer.

Madonna, in my opinion, is very much the Pat Boone to Grace Jones' Little Richard.

Ladies and Gentleman, Miss Grace Jones - The Official Grace Jones Thread

The one and only Grace Jones. A true Diva in every way. Many have ripped off her style. Grace started fashion trends that many are still copying. She is a true original.
