Favorite Movie of all time?

These aren't the BEST movies of all time, I know, but in terms of my subjective preference...I'd say "Contact", "Schindler's List" and "American History X".

Hollywood -- something with Humphrey Bogart, 'Key Largo' or 'In a Lonely Place.'

Foreign -- Fassbinder, maybe 'Berlin Alexanderplatz.'

oh hahaah you the fuckin dude for that, i saw that in theatre like 4 times when i was 12-13.

you just can't loose with Kudrow

and thanks for the answers fellas, ima search E-Bay for these.

Romy and Michelle was awesome! One of my fav movies when I was in high school. I cried so much from laughing so hard. That shit was hilarious!

Remember that bitchy chick dressed in black always smoking? She cracked me up!

The movie really spoke to me, in terms of the whole being mocked, etc, etc...and in the end it was very empowering and inspiring. Love it!

yea our talking about the one who invented fast burning ciggarette paper for the "girl on the go"

and the cowboy who never gave her a light but just flicked his butt on the ground and walked away hahahaha

Yeah, that's the one! She was fucking hilarious! I loved when the cowboy, towards the end, went to her, she turned, and the way she said "Oh Jesus, Mary and Joseph...what do you want?" cracked me up so much! Just her face...IDK, just cracks me up that scene.

uh oh, ahhaha i feel a challenge,

let me turn to my dvd stand and just name a few

you've got mail
mickey blue eyes
kissing jessica stien
waiting to exhale
sidways
along came polly
all over the guy
stranger than fiction
groundhod day

and i'm only on one shelf and this is just the upstairs movies.

i dont wanna start listing from the living room.

Well, now that I think about it..."Love Actually" is actually entertaining. Usually, romantic comedies are boring and incredibly stereotypical. Not that LA is a masterpiece but it's good entertainment.

"Waiting To Exhale"...I think I know that one. Who's it with?

Angela Bassett, Whitney (sober) Houston, Lela Rochan, Loretta Devine

Then I've seen it. Saw it in the theatres when it was released. Loved it! Whitney was actually pretty good in it.

and oh yea, do you like Kevin Spacey?

HOLY SHIT!!! GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!! "As Good As It Gets" is one of my favorite movies! Great great movie! Jack Nicholson's performance was incredible! Helen Hunt was really good as well. And the gay dude was kinda hot.

What do you have from Kevin Spacey?

*stops for a second to admire how the thread turned into a PM conversation*

Oh No For me the list is way too long!

but I have to say that "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything....." is a fav!

I saw "Contact" in the theater 4 times during its theatrical run in 1997. I thought it would be a contender for all the Best Picture awards until "Titanic" came in and ruined everything. I bought the VHS tape of "Contact" when it came out, then bought the DVD when it came out. Stupidly I lent the DVD to a friend and never got it back. Still haven't read the book yet, which is supposed to be better and more detailed.

The "gay dude" in "As Good As It Gets" was played by Greg Kinnear (not gay in real life, sadly).

I like you! :D

IDK...there's just something about "Contact" that speaks to me. I love it and it's a movie that, no matter how many times I've watched it (and I've watched it millions of times), I never get tired of it. It's pure love! Amazing movie!

^^Wich bathroom mirror shot? The one with her dad?

Jodie Foster's performance was amazing. She totally nailed it! The way she delivered the lines...the right emotional connection with the context in wich the lines were inserted. Like, when she first saw the galaxy and she was in awe...you could really feel the awe in her voice, she sounded like a lil' girl fascinated. The look in her eyes, her breath, her intonation, spelling...totally nailed!

And yeah, there's so many shots that are really well executed and thought out. I've always thought of it as being an amazing sci-fi...but also as being much more than simply an amazing sci-fi movie...it's an atypical sci-fi movie IMO.

^^Wich bathroom mirror shot? The one with her dad?

The one where she realized her dad was dead or dying, and she runs down the stairs and to the bathroom to open the medicine chest. The entire shot happens normally but then it pans out from the mirror on the medicine chest, so it makes you think that you've been watching everything up to that point in a mirror. But that would have been impossible, because the vantage point of the mirror could not see the upstairs and all that. It's a trick shot that is done so well, I didn't even realize it until I saw something that talks about it. Somewhere there's a clip, possibly on YouTube, where Robert Zemeckis explains how they did it.

AH YES!! I love that shot!

I know! Here is the same...I'm surprised how my balls haven't turned into ovaries yet.

Anyways, left ball is fine. Anything more or just the left ball? :p

^^ My ex-stepfather loves that movie. We tried to copy it but we couldn't so I haven't seen it. Only the first couple of scenes.

Children of Men and V for Vendetta. I like the whole "civilization has gone to crap but we're gonna try to revolutionize things" thing, it just makes me all tingly inside. I like how everything is just dark, hopeless, corrupt and doomed but somehow there's still always one person who rises up with some sort of beacon determined to make everything right again. It shows how even if the entire world has gone to hell it can still be drastically changed starting with just one lone person.
