What are you looking forward to having???

Usually it's the stuffing for me...but pumpkin pie seems to be what I am craving.

The potatoes and my Mother's turkey gravy.

It's like a drug, you can never have enough.

The pecan pie too.

We have all ready had our Thanksgiving, but I am sure I can still answer lol. Mine would have to be the stuffing as well Alley. The best is the next day making a turkey sandwich with mayo and throwing some stuffing in, absolutely orgasmic!!!

And yes the pumpkin pie is awesome to!!!

When I was growing up we would have a feast for Thanksgiving - an assortment of meats (turkey, roast beef, ham), sides including stuffing and mac & cheese, and veggies including string beans and yams. For me it has always been the whole plate because I like to get a little of everything on each fork. A complete food orgy.

Then we would all simply roll out of our chairs onto the floor as if we were living in the 12th century.

I used to love my mom's dressing with turkey gravy. She made it from scratch, working without a recipe, and it always came out perfectly delicious. Unfortunately, I never watched her make it or tried to create a recipe for my own benefit. My mom passed away four years ago, so it's one of many recipes that were lost.

My younger sister, however, did make the effort to contact my mom and have her tell her over the phone how to make the dressing. Her dressing and turkey gravy is very close to what my mom used to make.

Every year, at this time of year, I always say, I'm going to call my sister and have her tell me how to make my mom's dressing and gravy -- but I never do... :(

I have a recipe for sweet potato casserole with a brown sugar and pecan topping that a lot of people seem to like. I would say it's my second favorite dish for Thanksgiving.

Every dish is great at Thanksgiving!!

I have already been making sweet potatoes because they are in season (delicious and so good for you--is that a contradiction?), but always enjoy them as part of the meal.

Potatoes, stuffing and lots of gravy.

My mom makes pumpking pie and I make bread pudding. We always end up having to wait awhile before we have dessert. You know, turkey nap and then coffee with the sweets.

I always liked Mom's Turkey Rice Soup a couple of days later.

The traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is good and all, but nothing to get super excited about.

I do enjoy the turkey if it has been brined, and the best one I've had lately was a deep fried one.

:drool: stuffing, mash potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie, dark meat turkey :luv:

Pumpkin pie is my favorite. It makes me think of childhood.

Stuffing is the second favorite...mostly because it has the history: it's Grandmother's grandmother's recipe, with a couple of additions, but made without measurements so it's different every time.

Then the yams, then the turkey... I love Thanksgiving dinner. My whole family does, so much that we have the same again on Christmas.

Turkey + gravy + mashed potatoes

and of course the PUMPKIN PIE !!!

The entire Pubert menu.

* Apple-cider brined turkey with applejack gravy. (I don't need the gravy, but it's really good.)
* Garlic-horseradish mashed potatoes.
* "Classic" stuffing.
* Balsamic pearl onions.

He usually adds another side dish, which is always wonderful, but it varies. Someone is bringing pumpkin pie, which I don't like, so I'll have some small dessert just for me.

cornbread dressing, cranberries, and ham.

We always have tons of great food. I can't eat potatoes, but they used to be my favorite, so I make really good mashed potatoes for everyone else. I also make a really good cranberry sauce with pears.

Pie is pretty much my favorite food and my mom usually makes 4-5 pies of varying types. This year she's making lemon meringue, blueberry, pecan and flan. My sister-in-law's making two pumpkin pies (which I also can't eat).

My mother always made mince meat, pumpkin and apple--and they were all fabulously delicious.

Nothing comes as close as food made by people you love.
