Last night I came across a Jub member’s profile because I thought he was hot and read that he sings so I Pm’d him asking to hear his music. I was amazed; his voice is amazing and just as beautiful as he is. He’s also got a really sweet personality. I told him he should post his music on JUB and asked if it was ok if I started a thread about his music and he was a bit nervous about the idea but gave me approval. I’m going to send him the link to this thread so he’ll read any comments you have. He’s new to this site so I hope everyone welcomes him.

He’s worked very hard on these songs and spent tons of hours writing, recording, and mixing these songs all by himself. He also plays guitar, bass, drums and piano. My favorite song of his is “Remember the Dancefloor”, it’s such a beautifully written song. “Make Believe” is a close second and “Epic’s Overture” is my favorite instrumental song (He has two instrumental songs up). I’m not kidding when I say this but I’ve already to listened to them all probably at least 10 times within a days worth of time.

Give the songs a chance and a few listens, he deserves it. You’ll find yourself liking them more and more with each listen. You can listen to it when you browse JUB or any other site. Bookmark it and listen to it when you have time, then comment if you’d like. If you like his music, tell all your friends about it. He’s not signed or anything so if there are any music producers or friends of music producers out there…… (There probably aren’t any here but it’s worth mentioning.)

His voice is somewhat brittle for my taste, but very good none the less. Definitely a talented singer as well as a nice looking guy! ..|

I think it needs mainly technical work, the voice seems to be good, but the record is not. Nothing that some equipment and training cannot fix. The songs are nice .. a bit too slow for my usual taste, but beautiful :)

88, I'm still blushing by the gesture, but it's still every bit as appreciated as it was when you offered.

Ben and Corny:
Thanks so much for listening, as I know firsthand the level of faith and goodwill required to give a blind chance to a stranger. Regarding the songs on-site, it's a fairly demure set loaded up at the moment. It's just an emotional reflection, a snap-shot if you will, and until only recently MySpace capped your song-count at 5 - hence the videos for songs I have recorded but lacked room to upload. There are a dozen more songs (of several different genres) that I would consider finished enough to furnish to the public, so - since the song cap has been increased to 10 from 5, I'm hoping to upload some more rowdy songs as soon as I can.

That will hopefully be soon, so please, keep checking. As the recording becomes more professional, I'm confident that the majority of negative feedback will be addressed and corrected. I assume the "brittle" nature you speak of Ben is likely due to equalization issues and a $20 microphone, unless you mean just weak in general - if so, I can always appreciate some well-meant honesty. ;)

The main reason for seeing where this thread could go wasn't so much for feedback on technical quality - I make a point of lamenting the poorness of it on the front page, but you're correct Corny. I've never had the budget to record with the proper resources, but that's changing lately, and I'll use this thread to keep you posted.

I do, very much, appreciate your candor and your honesty - and of course, your compliments. I was hesitant when 88 asked if I'd be interested in a promotional thread, due to the tin-can quality and my general modesty regarding my own personal work - I've always been a musician first. Stepping fully into the spotlight has always been a frightening prospect. If you notice my avatar, you'll see the symbolism in it.

As before, please keep checking in and offering your feedback. I've been in a bubble of family and friends for too long, and thanks to 88, have a nice new thread to get some real perspective.

Take care and don't hesitate to keep the honesty intact. Everything helps.
~Andrew

there are 2 threads on this same subject, i swore i posted a reply, i heard all the songs earlier today & i was amazed

Yeah, I forgot to mention that about the recording quality. The first time Alabaster pm'd me the link to his myspace, he mentioned that he didn't have the the equipment to record in good quality. I still think they'll do as good samples of his work though and it's still a lot of work to do everything yourself.

chillyboi, the reason why there were two threads was because I messed up on the first one and wanted that to be deleted so I pm'd a moderator asking for it to be deleted. Sorry about that.

I've been listening for a while and it's pretty good. "Remember the Dancefloor" is such a romantic song, Awesome! Reminds me of my first boyfriend who I still miss. !oops!

I like how the songs with just instruments in them sound like a completely different genre than your other songs. They seem like they could fit very well for TV shows, movies, or video games.

Your voice has a very nice tone to it. Sort of like a more manly Ryan Cabrera. I love the sound of his music but sometimes his voice sounds a little too sissy but yours doesn't. ..| :=D:

Thanks Swimmer ;)

You're right - I'm glad I was able to capture that in a song. Writing while heartbroken normally turns out pretty syrupy, but like I told 88, it's one of the "old warhorses" that's been around for years...constantly touched up or revised.

Thank you though. I think my old record of daily plays has been blown all to hell since about 6pm this evening.

Much love, you guys. Lucky to have yas.

You're welcome! ..|

I just looked at your pictures and you're pretty cute too. ;)

Haha, thanks Swimmer! ;)

Just dropping in to let anyone interested know that I just uploaded a new instrumental to the ol' MySpace page. It's a good bit longer and more diversified than the other two - I'm actually really, really proud of this one, even though I lost an hour of work thanks to a very poorly timed autoupdate-slash-blue screen of death.

Still turned out alright, if I may say so myself. :D

Check out "Eleusinian" on my music page and let me know what you think. It only took 11 hours of straight recording, so I hope you like it. If you can, listen to it with some nice headphones or surround sound...lotsa time went into getting those pan flips just right, and there's a whole bunch of 'em. I'm also showing my nerdiness with the name. It's from a town in Greece with about two-thousand years of incredible history at least - translates as "Arrival."

So here I am, I guess. As always, can't wait to hear any feedback on Ele or any of the other songs I have up at the moment, and your honesty is very much appreciated! I'd go celebrate, but I gotta pack for a week on the road...

Take care, big hugs all around,
~Alabaster

You never fail to amaze me Andrew. I can’t believe you created that all by yourself. It sounds like an entire orchestra. You could probably take care of the entire Linkin Park band’s instruments all on your own. Amazing! Keep it up!

Hey! Thanks man!

Instrumentals are all about patience from my experience. :)

Thanks for the kind words, though. I think it's time to put Mean Motherfucker back into the rotation, just to make things a little more fiesty.

Thanks again and take care,
--Andrew

Just uploaded a remastered version of Say Goodbye (Mean Motherfucker) to the music page.

It's up tempo and pretty bass heavy, so it should be a nice departure from the love songs. I do need to figure something out with the lyrics here and there, and I'm never happy with my guitar parts, but hey! It's there!

Take care and hope you guys like it!
~Andrew

I LOVE it! And you're right, the guitar is outstanding! You're music is has a whole lot of variety of different sounds and having this very different uptempo song on your page definitely mixes it up. Your voice is so beautiful I want to have sex with your voice.

Ahaha, we have a winner for best compliment! lol

Thanks 88, this was a great idea :=D:

I spent a few hours breaking down Eleusinian - the newest instrumental - into a 40 second .mp3 that works great as a ring tone.

Send me a pm with your email and I'll be happy to get it headed your way.

Just don't, like, sell it and make me...you know...sue you, or whatever. Not too concerned about that really. I've always been happy to share my music, whichever form it takes, even if it means cutting a two and a half minute song into something that works with a phone.

It'll probably only work with email-capable or USB-ready phones, but I'm more than happy to give it a try.

Been getting a ton of plays lately, in comparison to before, so thanks again to everyone that's come by for a listen. Don't forget to add me or comment or message or anything you feel like doing. I'm a really friendly guy, once you get past the overworked, cranky perfectionist.

(*8*) Take care!

Hey, fellow myspace friend! :-)

I really like "Remember the Dancefloor" (as do a lot of people!) and it's cool that you're experimenting with instrumental things as well. "Firefly" and "Epics" sound, well, epic.

Anyhoo, great job, and I hope you keep writing!

Initiallyyours - thanks so much man! I gotta say, I'm a little jealous of your stuff to be honest.

Fantastic work on the piano - definitely someone worth listening to! Un Pas, Candycoated Hearts, and Porcelain are all incredible. Everybody should check 'em out, especially if you're already listening to mine. Just more proof there are a ton of really talented musicians on JUB.

Thanks you guys! (*8*)

It's been forever since I updated anything - been a difficult year to say the least.

Just wanted to let anyone interested know that I just posted a short, teaser-type intro for a new song in the works, "Your Summer Skin."

Hope you all like it, and all my best to everybody. (*8*)

Thanks,
Alabaster
