Fifty Shades of Grey [merged]

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

^ True Blood was a bit of an erotic tv series wasn't it?

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

^ I wouldn't know - was it? I only ever heard about it as the butt of jokes, so I never bothered to look into it.

The half episode I saw was. It was creepy, but it could have been creepier. Maybe it was in other episodes. The general setting seemed like a good idea to me. I remember a girl (of course) who watched it telling me "This is going to make it sound completely stupid, but one of the characters is a fairy," and that made me think more highly of it then. But it depends on what writers do with it and if they make the characters too human it would all be rather pointless.

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

Is anybody planning on watching this revolting movie? Or worse read the book?

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

The New Yorker review of it was hilarious. Without the book, that excellent review would never have been written.

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

Not interested...unless you're talking about fifty shades of grey pubic hair

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

The only good thing related to that movie:

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

A boring movie and book for repressed heterosexual women is how one of my female friends described it.

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

It's been hyped better than the next iPhone.
Seriously, whoever did the marketing for that crappy book and PG-13 porno is a genius.

Box Office: ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Explodes With Record-Breaking $81.7 Million

“Fifty Shades of Grey” sizzled at the weekend box office, setting new records for the highest-grossing Presidents Day holiday opener of all time and ranking among the biggest R-rated debuts in history.

The erotic drama performed like a comicbook movie, albeit one with much naughtier costumes, picking up $81.7 million from 3,646 locations over the three-day period. That easily trumped the holiday’s previous record-holder, the 2010 debut of the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day,” which kicked off with $56.3 million.

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

The Passion of the Christ is the only film with a higher grossing opening in the US.

But, not to be outdone, FSOG, is a worldwide blockbuster, too.

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

Considering cinemas are pretty much only showing FSOG and nothing else right now means it is a guaranteed success - the media and the film industry decided it would be big and offered no choice but to see it if you want to go to the cinema right now (only really garbage like Jupiter Ascending going up against it).

Re: I hate Fifty Shades of Grey.

Violence erupts at a cinema in Glasgow where FSOG was being screened.

I quote:

Fifty Shades of Grey might advocate a little light violence between consenting adults, but a cinema-goer in Glasgow took it a step too far on Valentine's Day, glassing a man over the head during a screening.

Three women were arrested at the Grosvenor cinema on Saturday night, during a particularly rowdy screening which saw people vomiting in the aisles.
