I know the original Night of the Living Dead is revered as one of the best horror/zombie movies ever made, but I find the first half incredibly boring. The remake caught and held my attention from start to finish.

What remakes do you prefer?

I never seen the original one of Dawn Of The dead but I have seen the remake of it and the remake one looks good ..|

I always preferred the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" to the original.

Martin Scorsese's version of "Cape Fear" is pretty good, even though Robert De Niro hams it up a bit too much.

I've only seen the remakes of Dawn of the Dead and Cape Fear and enjoyed both, but I need to check out the originals.

This isn't a remake (it's more like a "kinda, sorta" sequel, I guess), but I've always preferred Return to Oz over the Judy Garland movie. I don't dislike the latter, but the former was more faithful to the books. Except for the whole insane asylum bit. I don't know where they got that idea, but I liked it.

I saw Return To Oz when it came out but don't remember a thing. I recently caught a bit of The Wiz and couldn't believe how shoddy it was...like it was held together with scotch tape.

Michael Haneke remade his own movie, "Funny Games", for America. Shot for shot, word for word. They're almost the same movie except one is in German.

I prefer the American version because I like Naomi Watts and Michael Pitt a lot. A very scary movie. Not for the faint hearted.

Maybe you were too traumatized to remember. ;) I like The Wiz, shoddy production and all. Lol.

Interesting info about Funny Games. I've only seen the remake and it was indeed disturbing.

The Spanish horror movie REC had a "shot for shot, word for word" remake in the American film Quarantine, but with a twist.

The producers of Quarantine played it off as their creation with zero credit to the original. [-X I can't decide if I prefer one over the other since both has something the other lacks in certain areas, but I was surprised to learn most of the actors in REC had never acted before. They could've fooled me.

Are those vampires or zombies? I like found footage horror. I will have to check it out.

Not a remake, but have you seen "Battle Royale"? It's the film the Hunger Games series ripped off. Raped is more like it. It's not haughty and pretentious like The Hunger Games. It's bloody as hell and a lot of fun. Go Go from "Kill Bill" is in it.

They're zombies in the remake, but something entirely different in the original. I won't spoil it for you since I highly recommend you watch it.

No, never seen or heard of Battle Royale until now, but it looks good. Thanks for the intro. :) I saw one of the Hunger Games movies on TV a few years ago and while I didn't dislike it, I didn't understand the hype either.

Which one is better?

Yes, check out Battle Royale. You won't be disappointed!

I love The Birdcage, Vanilla Sky, Freaky Friday, Dawn Of The Dead, The Ring, Cape Fear, The Parent Trap and Hairspray

Overall I'd have to go with Rec. I like how they took the "found footage" film genre in a different direction.

Ditto on the Freaky Friday, Parent Trap and Hairspray remakes, Tao. ..|

The Birdcage, The Fog, The Jungle Book, Brandy and Whitney's Cinderella. Just to name a few

Nice picks. Especially Bram Stoker's Dracula. The scene where they confront Lucy as a vampire is one of my faves.

Forgot to mention the remakes for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Last House on the Left.

I thought the remake of Jumanji was far better than the original. The tweaks to the premise made much more sense. I also liked the remake of Total Recall but I think that's mainly because I have a major thing for Colin Farrell.

But I agree about Last House on the Left.

^LOL! I thought the original TCM was good though.

Speaking of the TCM films, what did you think about the sequels? The first and second were OK to me, but The Next Generation with Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey was all kinds of "WTF?!". It grew more and more insane and I loved every minute of it.
