Hi guys !

Are there any other Final Fantasy fans like me out there ? I reeeeeeeeally love these games, in my humble opinion they're probably the best series of games ever !!

So, any fellow fans out there ...? What's YOUR favorite Final Fantasy ?? I can't really decide ...I'm torn between VII, VIII and X. I THINK VIII...But I can tell you which is my least favorite : Crystal Chronicles . It has nothing, absolutely NOTHING to do with the rest of the series...it's not even Final Fantasy-ish !!! They just pinned the title "Final Fantasy" on it and thought that's enough to make it a good game. It used to break my nerves...

I haven't been into the FF series for that long though, so through this forum I'm sure any long-time fans will be able to teach me a thing or two ...

Oh, I just bought XII a week ago...haven't played much since cos I have been busy...but so far I love it !

So...eagerly waiting for your responses !;)

I have everyone of them except VIII which I would consider my favourite due to the story and characters. I really need to go find it.

I like VII and X as well; for some reason I didn't enjoy IX but it wasn't that bad!

I've only played the earlier ones in the series - FFI-FFVI, but I recently got a playstation 2 and am going to borrow VII from a friend, so hopefully I'll like it. I also played the Final Fantasy Legend series for gameboy, as well as Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, neither series is much like the original Final Fantasy games, but just with the title stuck on to make them more popular, basically... I am excited that FFVI just came out for GBA, so I'm gonna buy that, too!

Oh, great ! I've heard it's great. On a lot of game pages and magazines it has been voted one of the very best from this series. I just checked a few major game sites like Gamespot.com and most of them have VII as the best in the series. I really like it...the story is kinda weird but still deep and overall good.

Donnykabob : really ???!! You lucky dog !(No offense intented !)...It's the same with me too, by the way. I WANNA WANNA WANNA get my hands on VIII cos a friend of mine had it on Playstation and I loved it. The story, the characters, the spells, the GFs, EVERYTHING ! And I've read pretty much everything there is out there about it ! It's the first game that I know so much about and haven't even played it yet !

What about your favorite character ???

I think I'll say ...hmmm...LeBlanc from X-2, Tidus from X or Qustis from VIII. Edea is mighty cool too ! :-)

I LOVE FINAL FANTASY! My favorites are X and VII by far, and my favorite characters are Tidus, Rikku, and Red XIII

I love the story of FFX it was amazing, I cried a little at the end  Ive played all the way through twice in that game. FFVII has a great storyline as well, my favorite parts about that game though are materia (i love making all of those combos and stuff ;)) and also chocobo breeding/racing

It was so funny, cos a few years ago I used to buy this video game-magazine and that's where I first saw VIII. It had a major walkthrough/dedication to it that continued for 3-4 issues. From the first part I already loved it and kept waiting for next month to get to read the next part of Squall, Rinoa and the rest of the gang's adventures ! It had loads of profiles and photos too so I really could understand everything well ! I know it's kinda weird and probably silly, but I just loved it ! I loved a game that I had never played or actually seen "live" !

After the series finished in the magazine, I started searching online about it and kept reading anything VIII - related I could get my hands on ...and then a friend of mine got it on PS. I didn't get to actually play it, but I watched him play a couple of times...just in the very beginning of the story. Afterwards we drifted apart so...I didn't really get a chance to see much of the game in real live !

How crazy am I ?

haha no i used to get gaming magazines and i would sometimes read guides like that and really like the game without playing it lol. i have FFVIII but it didnt engage me as quickly and i havent had time recently to really play it much. I beat FFX-2 finally and i just got FFXII but i havent paid any attention to it since I got it lol

(I meant "Quistis" and not "Qustis")

...Is it just my idea or do almost all RPGs have a major female character who has the sacrificial lamb - syndrome ? All goody-goody and ready to sacrifice their lives for the world ? Like Aerith in Final Fantasy VII, Colette in Tales of Symphonia etc ??? (A-fuckin-mazing game by the way, could actually be my all-time favorite game even though it's outside the FF series).

To be honest, the materia concept was one of the few things I didn't like about VII. Magic and superpowers...in a bottle ? (Orb, sphere, whatever. So to speak...).
I prefer magic to be something like an innate power or summoning great supernatural beings (go Bahamut !)...not some kind of "thing" you can just take into your fist and pass at your friend, or inject into people .

Oh, one of my BIG faves in FF are....

THE MOOGLES !!! All of them ! How cute are they, kupo ? ;)

Im a Final Fantasy addict. I cant pick a favorite! I think FF VII or FF VIII are my favorite for their story lines. But i think FF-X2 is more fun to play. Its just soo happy and upbeat.

Im not a huge fan of Final Fantasy XII, the Epsers are worthless its really not that challengeing. Most boss fights are over in 30seconds with the quickening system. I think FF-7 had the best magic system because of the endless combinations and effects those combinations had. While i think 8 had a better summon system.

Tiffa was just the best!

I like Final Fantasy Tactics. That game is a slice of Heaven. 7 was good too.

Final Fantasy VIII had the best characters (it's the only one that did not have a character that irritated me) and minigame (I liked it as much as the game itself)

XII is good too, plotwise, however the fights seem to be lacking something for me. With the Gambits, I sometimes feel like I don't even need to be there; they can cope on their own, heal each others etc.

I also liked Advent Children (much more than the original game actually), and X was good too (I couldn't get into X-2; it all seemed a bit pointless to me)

Favourite characters: Zell, Vincent, Balthier, Basch.

Is it me or are the lead chaarcters getting less manly with each installment?

I've played all of the numbered ones and VIII is my favorite, though I don't know why. V is probably second.

I've been a huge fan of Final Fantasy for about 10 years now... the first one I started out with was VII and I went back and replayed the older ones as they were re-released on PlayStaion.
So far the best one in my opinion was VII. It just had the best plot and twists in it and it also actually made you grow to like the characters in it.

Roxas gets on my nerves..... really liked kingdom hearts one though.

*SPOILER*
Loved the scene in hollow bastion in KH2 with EVERYONE. Best moment in the game by far.*END SPOILER*

FF7 is the best. I know its silly but the reasons I didn't like FF8 were, long loading times between screens, pocketstation was unavailable although they showed it. This led to the game being tough as many rare items could only be got through the pocket station(read that in the manual i think). Also I didnt like how most areas became "locked down" on the fourth disk...... yeah I know you can go to shops using Master Tonberries abilities.... but its not the same.

FF9 was cool it was really far out whacky random cool.

FF10 was really topical, dealing with a corrupt religion controlling people.

Playing twelve at the moment something is lacking and I dont know what it is. But its still cool none the less.

FFVI and Tactics, I believe, are the best ones.

FFVI had the most dynamic characters, the best FF villain next to Sephiroth, beautiful music, a captivating plot, and a very rewarding ending.

Tactics was just pure gold, multiple orgasms. It went back to basics with the class icon system. It had a politically intriguing storyline that blew away the plots of FFVII, VIII, IX, X-2, and XII. The characters were amazing, the villains were complex, and even though the graphics were cartoonish, the battle system was amazing. They haven't made a masterpiece since Tactics.

I love the FF games with VII being my fave game of the series so far. I fell in love with the story as it unfolded and was the first video game to actually make me care about what was happening to the characters as I played it. And, embarrised to say, I cried like a baby after I got over the shock of a certain character who dies in it. Not only was it unexpected, but totally not what I saw coming as I thought said killed character would be one of the few to make it to the end. Also, I loved the Materia system in the game as well, as not only was it easy to use but it also took some thinking as to what weapon to utilise a certain amount, whether or not to use certain materia in a battle and so on and so on.
Another thing that VII hooked me in was the mini games such as chocobo breeding and the mini games that could be played at the Golden Saucer casino. I just loved playing all of them and getting all the secret items that were stashed away after you completed them. Totally flipped and kissed the screen as well when I finally successfully bred that damn Gold Chocobo and was able to get the fabled Knights Of The Round Materia. Tell you what, it sure made fighting Sephiroth that second time sound sweet as easy pie. But I enjoyed the challenge of fighting him first time round without the said materia as well. The only thing I have not been able to defeat after all this time is the Weapon Mechas in the game, but I enjoy the challenge still and refuse to use cheats.
FF 12 is....interesting. I have only hired the game on and off from my local Blockbuster since it's release and have enjoyed it, but the whole new Gambit system is sort of let down. Yes, it does ease up the pressure of commanding your secondary characters a lot when compared to the other instalments and I admit it helps you then to turn your focus on the boss characters when you face them, something just seems off about the whole thing. I guess you could say you are now less involved in the game as the system itself is playing for you, when in say 7 and 8 or 9 you were forced to take charge and work the strategy out to defeat the enemies and the bosses. On the plus side, it is a relief to not worry so much about resurrecting or healing during a game as you can assign one character to do this, while having your others focus on battling the enemies.
Another thing I noticed with 12 is that, for the first time, the lead male is not truly the lead character and protagonist in the game and that the princess character is more or less the main focus. Ash is the main driving force in 12 and your dude is more or less a watcher/observer to her journey to becoming Queen of Dalmasca.
On the downside as well in 12 is that the summonings, or Espers, are pretty much useless in this game as long as you've taken the time to level up your characters and use the license board right and give each character an even amount of spells/armour/weapon/esper units each.
In saying that though, I will admit that I found the male characters much stronger and easier to level up and gain extra spells with than the females. My main 'crew' as it stands are made up of the three principle males of the story, with my females not really playing much into it as I though I'd use and that includes Fran who, I thought surprisingly given she was much hyped in the promotion of 12 and it's initial pic releases, was a lousy fighter and died pretty quickly in the battles I used her in.

I like the music to the games but not the game itself. :(

I hate RPG's with a passion.
