First GAY KISS on Daytime TV on ATWT

I think they are great together. Thursday appears to be big. We'll see.

Now that I am off for winter break, I can watch this stuff in real time.

I hope all works out for them.

I've been watching "As The World Turns" and it's ABC competition "One Life To Live" for the same amount of time: the past 15 years ...

But I gotta say "One Life" is kicking "World's " butt !!!

I have to say, this is the closest thing I can say to knowing how you feel -- I enjoy a show named "Dante's Cove". Most of the people on JUB are simply obsessed about the sex, but they don't care for the magical elements, the good vs. evil plotlines, the various disparate characters that don't always getting along putting their differences aside to band together to stop an enemy that threatens to destroy them all...

and I do... but I can't seem to find anyone here, or on just about another any other forum to discuss it with. Really, not the same thing, but can be compared to an extent, and I just thought I'd throw you a bit of an olive branch on that point. I follow Dante's Cove religiously, particularly lately (I'm even the first person to add a plot summary for every new episode on the show's Wikipedia page). Know how you feel in that regard. I'm not worried about "ratings", but I am worried that everything besides the sex and relationships will go totally unappreciated by anyone other than me.

okay, i might get blasted for this, but i really don't see why u guys are making such a big fuss over "Nuke", "Loah" or whatever u wanna call them. don't get me wrong, it's always nice seeing shows add a little diversity to their casts, but other than that their storyline hasn't really done anything for me. i usually end up fast-forwarding. i will say Noah definately has his really sexy moments though. like those pics someone posted earlier in the thread.

Because it's the first time we've ever seen two gay males kissing on American daytime television (but not the first time two males have had sex; Passions gets that honor). That is a big deal, Mr. UFC fan that didn't even give me credit for tipping you off to that other thread in the Sports board. <------ You're only getting "blasted" by me for that last bit, not the question about "Nuke"/"Loah".

I actually agree with you, but then I never thought soaps were all that "sexy" to begin with... and more often than not, they're not well-written. I think the turn they took with Noah and Luke being stupid enough to go off with that psycho, getting shot, and then Luke getting paralyzed temporarily until he visits Mayer in the hospital and starts walking again... that's kind of the reason I stopped watching soaps years ago. I haven't been paying attention to this thread for some time now, and I only caught your last posting cuz I wanted to see if anyone responded to my analogy about only watching ATWT for Nuke/"Loah" being compared to only watch Dante's Cove for the gay sex. No one so far, but hope springs eternal, I guess... ](*,):-({|=](*,)

Clearly, the latest posters are more ATWT fans than mere Nuke fans (the Nuke fans have left the building, cuz they're sick of waiting it out {like you})... but that's what renegade_killerbee wanted, a thread about soap operas, and that's what he got, so let him enjoy that, I say. As a person who said he's a fan of OLTL, and actually wants to see a gay prime time character killed off, so the actor playing him can reprise a straight day time role, I would think you could understand that.

actually u didn't tip me off to the UFC thread...i just happened to notice it was the last topic commented in that section one night. and i don't necessarily WANT them to kill Tuc's character on DH. i just prefer him as David on OLTL. i understand that it's a big deal to see 2 dudes kissing on daytime tv--something i missed btw, i just don't find their storyline at all interesting. it just seems like we're all expected to show some sense of loyalty to them because they're "family".

Uh, huh.

Not really. No one is going to come knock on your door like the gestapo and ask you if you watched/taped/TIVOed your ATWT tonight. If you don't want to watch it, don't watch it. At the same time, just as you don't want other people telling you what to do if you don't want to, you should let others comment on it here @ JUB if that's what they want to do. I don't particularly care for the storyline myself, but I care for the other storylines even less, and since there's discussion about both here in excessively high praise of both (and even going so far as to track and raise the ratings of certain daytime shows, which is just over-the-top as far as I'm concered), I mainly ignore this thread. To each their own, no matter how far off your path it is.

If you think you feel swayed by some mythical expectation that you watch or "support" Nuke/"Loah", I've actually seen people (and yes, they're openly gay) imply that GLAAD should *STOP issuing reports on how many gay characters there are on TV from season to season* on a gay-dominated message board, because it gives homophobes an excuse to say there's a gay agenda (as if homophobes need an excuse to find something wrong with gay rights and gay visibility) so trust me, there's plenty of variety in terms of opinion on this board. If you want me to link you to that particular thread, I'd be happy to; hopefully you won't be able to deny that you found that one through me if you do choose to check it out, but I'm skeptical you will anyway, so it doesn't matter all that much.

And it seems you're taking things a LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEE bit too seriously. It is just a TV show, after all. :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

I had a roommate who grew up on ATWT, and I was dating a guy who was on "Guiding Light" at the time, so I watched both shows pretty regularly, and have checked in on them over the years to see what's up, who's new, etc. While the Luke/Noah storyline is cute, it's also extremely dull, in that there's nothing interesting about them to keep them going as a couple, or to expand them beyond the usual soap shelf life. Between the closeted half of the couple, the murderous homophobic parent, etc., they've pretty much used up the gay-related storylines that don't involve AIDS. I'd like to see them last, but soaps are based around the creation and destruction of marriages, babies whose parentage is in question, honesty vs. duplicity, and most of all, family dynamics. Gay guys are harder to plug into those situations than are straight characters just on the basis of biology, so I don't expect to see the guys around for too very much longer. It's been fun, though, and seeing Agim Kaba and Austin Peck has been well worth the visit.

oh homo...you're my hero!!!

It's all about my girl Carly...I could watch Maura West read the phone book.

i just hope she doesn't start something up with the puppet guy--i've been HORRIBLE with names lately. kinda interested in her friendship with "Kit". i always like Carly--i'm not even sure why, considering some of the stupid things she does. she really does need to bitch-slap that bratty son of hers...and tell Jack where to stick it.

Aww,

Today's episode was downright sweet.

No, seriously it was... Nuke's kiss under the mistletoe was a delightful thing. In spite of some corny lines.

Then again, I'm not used to drinking during the day. *hic*

Tommorow's Victorian Christmas ep. looks interesting.

Mmm ! More eggnog !(!)

i'm hearing the show's loosing their 2nd hottest guy next month when Grayson McCouch checks out as Dusty Donavan.....

of course they could make up for it by hiring Brian Bloom to reprise his role. i wouldn't mind seein that sexy beast back on daytime.

aww today's nuke action was so nice. it's hard to watch really mushy things but i enjoyed it. they seemed to really be pushing the love and emotional aspect of their relationship much more than the physical. i can't believe they had them saying all that.

not saying this is on the same level but that's why i never liked brokeback mountain. their relationship was mostly physical, but everyone calls it this great love story. the first time they had sex it just happened out of nowhere there was no flirtation or anything leading up to it.then the whole time they are cheating on women. nuke shows gay relationships are not only about sex. they sometimes just want to live and not hurt straight people

even though that kiss was short it was intense. i thought it would be a little peck, but they were makin love with that kiss.
