They love them, they love them not. I have no clue how extensive the creation of the report is, but I assume it's pretty accurate.

Yes, I thought so!!! My understanding is, that, at this point, any "conservative women" that have a problem with "Nuke" and the other GLBT characters on daytime are nothing but a vocal minority. AMC has pretty much made GLBT characters into not so much a big deal, and my gawd, it *IS* 2007, in case people hadn't noticed...

It seems people on this board and all its forums are sooooo scared of homophobes and think they're more powerful than they really are, and are always telling advocates of gay rights to just put their head down and turn the other cheek. It sickens me at times, I tell you...

Awwwww yeah, I hate to see that storyline end, especially they way it will conclude. So much pain all around. It's rather funny that the JPC story is wrapping up just as the Luke/Noah story is taking off.(But also it's just beginning here in the US on BBCA, that is if the idiots at BBCA do not remove itfrom the schedule) LN don't have the electric chemistry that JPC have but they may in the future, we will have to stay tuned to see.

funny thing is I can't seem to like Noah and Luke after JPC. it's like repeating John Paul/Sarah in another dimension no matter how different the minors conflicts are. And let me guess, soon they would insert another gay man a-la Spike in the scene to spice up the drama. no matter, i'd probably be into it some other time if there is no more hollyoaks to watch--in youtube of course

Tomorrow, Luke and Noah are walked in on, from what I can tell, a kiss by Maddie. I think she walks in before they get to kissing, but she definitely walks in on the two in an awkward closeness.

I feel like such a lemming for having watched about an hours worth of those clips on YouTube. I don't even watch As the World Turns, and yet here I am submitting to those clips, simply because they are "gay."

Ugh.

Don't feel like a lemming. It all goes to show how little gay content the mainstream media offers, and how starved some are for them. That's why I'm so thankful that GLAAD does hard work to promote more images of positive, yet realistic images of the LGBT community on TV and other media, despite idiots who posts in certain forums discouraging them from do so.

We've barely scratched the tip of the iceberg, and we have decades of invisibility and negative stereotypes that the MSM needs to atone for.

Keep up the excellent work, GLAAD, one day there will be no dearth of images that LGBT people can see that will reflect themselves, and Carey won't have to feel like a lemming any more because he won't have to turn to soaps to feed his cravings, because there will be plenty of other options out there.

Years and years ago I was a regular ATWT viewer. I haven't watched it in at least 15 years. Now I've been watching this Noah/Luke story. The most shocking thing to me is how many of the same characters are still on the show. Holden and Lilly (and Luke is their son???). Dusty Donovan (not the original). Craig Montgomery. Lucinda Walsh, among a few other recognizable names. Funny, the more things change the more they stay the same.

Personally I'm not investing much into the Luke and Noah pairing. 1) They're gonna have Noah date and marry Maddie (which I'm very cool with).

2) When Noah does come clean to Maddie (breaking her heart) and moving in with Luke, TPTB (the powers that be) will scrap the storyline and move on. Trust me, I've been watching daytime TV for almost 27 years. It's pretty much how it's played out sadly.

I have such mixed emotions about all this and maybe some other longtime "As The World Turns" fans on this board feel the same way.

On ONE hand, I am very glad that something has piqued an interest amongst non-soap fans (the Noah & Luke pairing). Soaps definitely need something right now and a rise in ratings for the usually 5th or 6th rated ATWT would be nice.

But on the OTHER hand, none of these "curious to ATWT" seem to really care or want to get drawn in to the other dynamic characters and storylines that are busting out at the seams everyday in Oakdale (hi, Dusty, Susan, Alison, Holden, Gwen, Rosanna, Paul, etc.). And unless these newbies care to really delve into things, the hopeful ratings jump will only be temporary.

Any other soapies know what I'm talkin' 'bout?

I agree with you. I find as a result of "The Kiss" I've grown fond of Van Hansis both the actor and his character Luke. Even before Carly would always grab my attention.

I apologize, but considering my statement was purely an assumption from what I have seen on the show, it really isn't a spoiler in a sense. More of a prediction on my part. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that has done it in this topic already.

Sorry, I take that back. The part about Luke being attracted to another man is technically a spoiler, since I found it, but if you had watched the last episode, you could figure that out for yourself. The rest was speculation considering we all know (and here's a shocking spoiler) the two lovebirds end up together one way or another.

I never thought I would say this, but I relate to that story SO much. Except mine didn't turn out as pretty and in bed together as much as anguish that led me to quit that job and a strange torment from his 'confusion'. It's nice to see and hear sometihng you can relate to. Wow, that I just related to a soap opera makes me feel kinda fucked.
