First GAY KISS on Daytime TV on ATWT

I've been watching "As The World Turns" and it's ABC competition "One Life To Live" for the same amount of time: the past 15 years ...

But I gotta say "One Life" is kicking "World's " butt !!! And sadly I haven't managed to watch much of the venerable CBS sudser.

"One Life," with it's fantastic story about the McBain's vying for custody of their adopted baby, which turns out to be town pariah, but moneybags, Todd Manning's, is absolutely the best thing I have seen on daytime TV since Tony Jones had to hand over his dying daughter's heart to his niece Maxie on "General Hospital" 13 years ago!!!

And "One Life" hit the No. 3 spot on the ratings last week.

Anyone else feel awkward when Nuke are together? I think it's because the two are too sugary sweet. I often get that way when a couple is too sweet. It almost seems fake, and the fact that the two are already practically ready to hop in the bed together, after only being a couple for a few days, it makes it worse. The writers were doing a good job at first, but now they are pushing it so fast, as I've said before. On another side though, it was sweet to see Noah almost break down and cry talking to Lily about how he's sorry. I thought Holden was gonna beat the crap outta him at first, since it looked like he was also blaming Noah. Luckily, Holden only blames Lily (even though I wish he didn't).

Wouldnt you want to hop in bed with either of those? Rawr.

They are a bit open in public for just starting out. You can tell that's not the world we live in. And OLTL is really good right now. I'm glad you posted that clip. I missed that episode.

Awesome, bluedragon!

Yeah. Normally, I devote my time equally between ATWT & OLTL but OLTL has been so ridiculously good here lately, gays or no gays, that I have just been all about it.

And there's major Emmy talk for all the actors involved in the baby Tommy tale: Kathy Brier (Marcie), Trevor St. John (Todd), Nathaniel Marston (Michael) and Kassie DePaiva (Blair).

Did you see the powerhouse show where Emmy shoe-in Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) fell apart on the witness stand? Praise daytime!!!

Ugh! Another who's the baby's daddy story is in the works. Is it a requirement of a soap to have countless baby-daddy dilemmas? Meg's baby belongs to who? Craig? Paul? Katie's rumored to be pregnant, and considering the Katie/Jack marriage is on the rocks, Brad will probably move on in. Who else should get knocked up? Lily? She turns to Dusty after fighting with Holden and sleeps with him, then Holden and her make up and boingo! Instant paternity confusion.

A very quick fashion note. Does "Noah" wear anything but the shirt over the T-shirt thing. I'm definitely not a fashion expert but must be more than T's available. I know go shirtless more often.

I feel ya, Linxus. What I'm the most shocked at is how Gwen lost ANOTHER baby and what's up with her pregnant sister-in-law? There's a lot of buns in the oven on this show right now and there doesn't seem to be a way for many of these storylines to come together in some common arc.

Sadly the show has gotten off kilter in a short amount of time. This past April/ May right before Kelly Menighan-Henlsey (Emily) took her maternity leave (real life pregnancy this time), the show was A+ in my book what with Susan finding out her daughters were meth-addicted porn-prostitue has-beens; Dusty finally having chemsitry with a female character for the first time since Lucy left Oakdale (in the aforementioned Menighan-Henlsley's Emily Stuart); and I'll tell ya what, I may be in the minority here but I actually dug Jennifer Landon's dual role storyline where she played Gwen AND Chloe. Just my opinion, though.

She was pretty good. It took me FOREVER to figure out it was actually one person playing dual parts, and not just dual parts, completely different personalities. I hated Chloe, but at the same time, I felt for her.

If only I had more than one tv in this house, I would check out OLTL, but I've been drawn into ATWT whether it's going to hell or not. I seem to be attracted to the underdog shows...well actually the pickup of Luke storyline drew me in, but the other storylines kept me. I'm not a soap man, but I can get drawn in just like anyone. I just hope ATWT doesn't spiral down to Passions level (god, I loved that crazy show until it went to utter shit....a chimp nurse XD).

Today's Nuke episode was a trainwreck involving the acting and writing. For all Holden could have been concerned, Luke could have been dying on the ground, but he shows no concern, instead he decides to wrestle with the colonel and play 20 questions with him. Lilly acts nowhere near like a mother concerned that her son could be near death. Noah experiences extreme short term memory loss, after witnessing the whole thing and then asks his dad "what did you do?" while his dad easily walks away from the crime.

On a side note, not that I wanted to see Luke dead, but the "colonel" seems like an awfully bad marksman for being such a seasoned military man; he missed his chance 3 times with Luke in the cross hairs, once even point blank.

At least we finally got that silly cap off Luke's head.

"As The World Turns'" ratings aren't too terrible ... but they're not too great either.

Although it's not as low-rated as "Guiding Light" and "Days Of Our Lives," it hasn't had steady top-3 ratings since the summer of 1993 when Holden (and the whole cast) flew off to Amalfi to rescue Lily and bring her back from that uber hot Paolo Seganti (Damian).

"One Life To Live" has experienced a ratings surge because: a) people have tuned out of "ATWT" because they're homophboic; b) "Passions" is finito. But those aren't the only reasons "OLTL" is must-see daytime right now. It's just plain ol' good stuff!

(below: a near-naked Troy REALLY made ONE LIFE good!)

I say I tune in to watch Nuke, but I must confess my main draw is Maura West. She is absolutely incredible. It's a shame people think of hammy, over-the-top scenery chewers like Susan Lucci when they think of soaps, and not pros like West.

Awww bidude and CandidCandor, I actually agree with BOTH of you!

The Rappaports did drown out the rest of the Llanview cast when they came aboard in early 1998.

But the Labine writing regime tried to do that in 1996/97 with the Hayes clan and it proved unsuccessful so it was only a matter of time before some writing team went full steam ahead, and every soap writer does it.

But I really grew to like them (except for the incredibly good-looking actor that plays Will). Can't believe I said that.

I really loved Jennifer Morris in the last year that she played Jen and thought her death scenes -- at the hands of Nora's bisexual fiancee -- were just soap opera at their finest.

Once again, we're swaying from "As The World Turns," sorry everybody. It just hasn't been as good as "One Life" lately =(

My problem is why didn't Noah or Lily even lunge at Win as he was getting the shot off-what's the worse that could have happened-somebody getting shot? D'ah!

Ugh! So Carly ISN'T gonna die afterall (shock!, shock!). She'll withhold this information from Jack for two or three months ... Brad, or worse yet, Katie will find out and blackmail Carly into staying away from Jack ... Then Jack will find out that both of his "women" have been lying to him.

This soap cliche is as bad as the back-from-the-dead one. I remember when Nikki did this to Victor back in the day on "The Young & The Restless." (sigh).

well looks like they made poor naive idiotic luke into a cripple. this storyline ended up so damn weird

Ok, first off I'll preface this by admitting I am stupid for even allowing myself to continue watching this trashed story. But heh, it's like being addicted to crack (I guess).

There's a known killer on the loose, let's leave Luke unguarded alone in the hospital room fighting for his life. Mom, dad, you had a rough day. Why don't you go away to the restaurant for a lovely bite to eat? Show no concern for Luke's life and security.

Win, feel free to wander into the hospital unnoticed. It's rather short staffed right now and they could use your extra help.

Luke, you're paralyzed right now, and we have no clue why. We can't even determine if you were shot, or just took a really hard fall. Dr. Hughes is a really old, he's been practicing since 1960, so pardon him for being an old quack. But he's the only doctor in Oakdale. . . well, aside from Carly's quack that can't tell a tumor from an abscess. Luke, you may be better off dead in this town.

Noah, we have nothing for you to do right now. Now's a good time to become a cliched self-condemning drunk.

hahaha thats hilarious. i forgot it was shot so weird we still dont know wtf even happened to luke.he fell down a hill which is weird since it seemed like they were standing by a flat area. then how the hell he get to the bottom? he rolled through the trees. this shit is a mess. this was like passions level of stupid.

It is a soap after all. I've only caught a few glimpses of other shows, but soaps aren't supposed to be realistic, otherwise the storylines would be pretty undramatic. They have to bend realism in order to pull of a "story push." But I do agree, if we are going for realistic writing, there should have been a parental unit staying put, or a cop watching over him.
