I'm curious as to why these particular people/person inspired a full on investigation by the JUB team? It's been stated that these JUBBER/JUBBERS duped people. How so? Were they charging for sexual services or for their fiction or something of that nature?
I agree that it seems pointless to lie on the internet b/c an individual has nothing valuable to gain from it. However, I suspect, and so have many of you, that relationship stories are often enhanced. I believe Superboy (who's recently returned) was accused of creating a fantastic fictional, love story and presenting it as though it was a true story. Did he fib? Who knows.
Undercoverbicop is a self-proclaimed married cop who screws gay men on the side. He's also been accused of creating a fictitious online personality. Is he fibbing? Who knows.
I just don't see why those particular usernames were targeted for a full on investigation. I mean, it seems that this took a lot of work. Is there something more intensive going on that can't be disclosed? I can understand the ban since creating multiple accounts violates the CoC, but what event gave rise to the investigation?
The privacy issue concerns me b/c like other forums, JUB is generally anonymous unless the user gives out their personal info. It's a great resource for LGBT folks. Some of these people are deep in the closet, and some live in countries were it's illegal to be gay. I would hate for the fear of a potential investigation into their personal lives keep them from joining up and reaching out for support.
I'm a bit surprised that we've been handed so much personal info as well. This JUBBER or these JUBBERS live in a suburb in Dallas, TX. We even know their defense to your extensive evidence against them. I don't know why, but I thought convos w/ mods were confidential. I thought PMs in general were meant to be confidential. Is there a certain activity a JUBBER does that opens up the flood gates?
Maybe I'm just jaded, but I don't trust people in real life to tell the truth, let alone on the net where I can't get a good read on them.
