But that's out of a sea of randomness, for objects which remain in that sea. Things popping out of a black hole wouldn't be remaining in a sea of randomness, so they should endure.

OTOH, I suspect that the odds of so much as a screwdriver emerging from a black hole are such that in any given galaxy one wouldn't be expected in less than the lifetime of the universe. And that's completely beside the point that our pour unicorn would be sucked right back in by gravity, if not shredded by tidal forces.

I don't understand the technical details involved at all, so I'm not even going to try to describe them. But apparently there is reason to believe that the disappearance of the plane might have been caused by the presence of lithium-ion batteries on board, batteries which have been known to spontaneously combust. There was a large shipment of such batteries on the plane:

I haven't heard any mention of this before. How can such a thing be overlooked for so long? If I understand the matter right at all, then having a cargo of these batteries means fire could have broken out in the cargo hold. Could that have been the problem that caused them to turn? Could it have resulted in fumes that overcame the pilots? Might such a fire have even caused the plane to break in two?

Unfortunately when working on the pc I let CNN stream live this past week. The coverage was pitiful and nothing but a fiction 24 hr mill of nothing news. Finally I turned it off and put on a mindless local Iheart classic hard rock radio station because Led Zep Stairway to heaven every 45 minutes followed by Floyd dark side of the moon again and again was better on my numb senses.
CNN could cover this within 30 seconds every 15 minutes or so with the facts know and not the nut theories.
"What goes, up must come down" No other facts known.

This is why I have kept a tab open on theguardian.com's live blog. The tab notifies of anything of import that I can then turn to and read. This is not really a visual story (other than the hot RAAF Flight Lieutenant - and that was very well covered by JUBBERS).
