Ok guys, ive lost 70 lbs a couple years ago, and im trying to loose 25 more, but i cant get enough energy to workout for long, and i find im not making healthy choices eating, i eat at my college and have no acces to a kitchen, so im restricted to their awful food. Im sick of eating salad two times a day every day, what do i do? HELP, lol:help:

There are probably some ways to improve what you're eating within the context of your cantine without relying only on salads if you think about it. Do they have grilled meats? Pasta or rice without a lot of sauce. Vegetables, cheese, tuna, fruit

You could supplement it yourself by bringing your own whole grain rye bread, cans of tuna etc...

well, i have a meal plan. They always have pasta, french fries, and wraps, but the meat is usually beef. I dont eat red meat. sumtimes the have grilled chicken, which is delish, but usually no. They do have veggie pizza sumtimes, i like that.

Meal plans suck cuz once they already have your money, there's no incentive to make good food. I can't beleive grilled chicken isn't a staple. Do they only have burgers, meatloaf, and spaghetti?

When I was an undergrad I could always have a grilled chicken breast sandwich if there was nothing else appetizing. Yogurt, muesli or granola, a banana, and a naked juice or odwalla smoothy was also a common meal for me.

Sometimes I would put marinara sauce on green beans or roasted vegetables and some fresh stuff from the salad cart, and then sprinkle oyster crackers on top. Basically I had pasta, a side dish, and a salad, but if the cashier thought I was cute or had a thing for me, they'd smirk or giggle and only charge me for the vegetables :gogirl:, but if it was some old guy then he'd make me pay for everything.

Can you use your meal plan to buy grocery type things like whole wheat bread and tuna or peanut butter? Or better yet, maybe you can sell your meal plan for some cash to a commuter or someone who doesnt have a meal plan but doesnt want to bring their own food to campus. Then you can order out or buy groceries. Some big supermarket chains deliver too if you don't have a car.

These are good ideas, however my meal plan is on a swipe card and they look at ur pic, to make sure its you. I could have changed my meal plan to get "flex money" but its too late now.... I go to the grocery store to get rice cakes and fruit. Sometimes i just eat that as a meal, lol But i think theres sumthing wrong with me, cause everytime i eat something i get really sick and wanna vomit.....

Yeah, dorm food does that. People get the "Freshmen 15" and drop it like a hat once they get tired of the food. But seriosly, maybe parasites? or a stomach flu in your upper digestive tract. See a doc or a sexy male nurse practitioner.

lol, my dr.s a woman, but if u are a nurse practitioner...maybe ill come see you, haha yea i gotta go to the doc. Ive been like this for 3 weeks now.....

You need to learn about what foods are good and what is bad.

Have a turkey sandwhich on whole grain bread. No mayo, mustard if you like.

Have tuna fish

I know my school had sushi all the time.

Soups, non-cream based are always good!

Look for high protein, low fat options. If you are working out a lot, the carbs wont kill you, just make sure they are complex!

ok, thnx, ill try but its hard with all the bad choices at my school, haha by the way, is that u in ur avatar? cause whoever that is they are super HOTT!! hehe

Pasta is always a good choice, but it's the sauce you should watch out for. Avoid it if possible or reduce the amount to a bare minimum (say 1 TBL spoon). Better if you buy yourself some tomato pesto (and/or green pesto) sauce to bring with you and use a tea spoon of it and a sprinkling of parmesan.

French fries are to be avoided, but I think you know that. I would avoid the veggie pizza as well, never mind that you like it, you're looking for healthy choices to help you lose weight.

Remembering that the topic you started this thread with wasn't "how to make my crappy meal plan more enjoyable", but rather about making healthy choices within your fixed meal plan, so you might reconsider your position on red meat, assuming it's for taste or health reasons that you're avoiding it. You can worry about not clogging your arteries when you're a few years older and have more choices.

Same goes for eggs. Cholesterol isn't likely to be a problem at your age... worry about it when you have to.

I wouldnt recommend that. You can start building up artherosclerotic plaque in your arteries as soon as they've formed a closed circuit and blood starts flowing in them when you were still a fetus in your mother's womb. Just because someone is young doesn't mean he can throw caution to the wind and eat anything he wants because his metabolism will keep him from gaining too much weight. High cholesterol and the narrowing of the arteries doesn't just abrubtly happen in old people. It takes a lifetime to develop. And dropping your cholesterol when youre older doesnt necessarily translate to re-widening your arteries. That takes a lot longer to accomplish. What you do now shapes your future in terms of your arteries. I suggest you invest in a healthy lifestyle now and reap the benefits when you're 55 and don't have to take a handful of pills everyday or conscribe yourself to a very limited and bland diet to keep yourself from having a heart attack at any moment.

oh...i totally love CRNPs....At anyrate.

Rather than crash diet to lose 25lbs which you'll gain back on you return to normal eating habbits why not try healthy subisitutions. As my fellow citizen of the city of brotherly love mentioned swapping mustard for mayo, you can even cut the mayo with mustard so its less calories and fat but you still get the creamy texture. I know when i was in pharmacy school it was a nightmare trying to eat healthy. Actually....it still is a pain to eat healthy...14 hour shifts with no lunch break. i have to eat on the go, rather than pilfer the candy section, I bring precut fruits and veggies, i slice up grilled chicken tits so i can inhale my food.

Sticking to a healthy eatting habbit is hard. But its important to do it when you're young so you make it part of your routine, so that when you are 50, you dont have to try to learn how to eat healthy.

Crash dieting is like cycles of retarded hell. They serve a purpose and when i modeled if i new i had a shoot, or event or whatever, I would eat nothing but 2 6oz pieces of salmon a day for a few days before, yea i looked tighter but any weight you loose you gain right back.

Some good ideas are to keep cut veggies with you and lean protein with you. If you get hungry midday chow down on the lean protein. It helps make you feel fuller longer.

You might want to also find out what your body fat % is. Sometimes weight alone doesn't tell you the whole story about a person's level of fitness. If you look at me on paper I'm 6'4 and 205lbs but i have 9.5% body fat. Very little of me jiggles. However, some one who was 6'4 and 205lbs with say 20% body fat would look very different. Just something to think about. I tend to be more anal about my body fat % than my weight.

And if all else fails, call your friendly neighborhood plastic surgeon. j/k

One of the thing that I know when it comes to more energy when working out is stretching, taking your time, and drinking more water.

Don't expect to start out BOOM and last forever. Do start little by little more each time, and soon you'll noticed you can last longer. Its building up your stamina. Stretching is very important. Stretch all the muscles in various activity. You'll find that not only does it relaxes you, it puts you into the mood of working out more.

Drink water. Water hydrates and refreshes. Drink plenty of water half an hour before exercise. Drink more water during exercise and take a little break in between. When you're done, relax, stretch, and drink more water.

If you want more energy, don't roll out dead after your exercise. Go do something else right away. It helps build your stamina in the long run.

wow, thanks everyone for the awesome tips. Yea., I havent drank a soda for over two years now(well thats a lie, i have one like once a month, lol) I drink like 2 gallons of water a day, lol i wish they had yogurt at my school, but they dont. I think im gonna try that activia yogyrt to help fix my digestive system, im sick of getting sick after every meal. haha thanks again:)
