  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

For what are you willing to expend a great deal of money?

No I was not joking. I wish I was.

Ohhhhh lordy. Arizona Iced Tea. The Green Tea and, I believe, ginger variety.

That stuff is dangerous. Here I thought we were talking about dry, bulk tea or teabags. I can totally see how you could spend that much on those.

Makes sense with the diabetes and all. I stopped drinking that stuff, soda, and anything else more than two processes away from its natural state. lol It's addicting, for sure. Good on ya for trying to get ahold of it, instead of letting it get ahold of you.

Those houses are spectacular.

Hmm... interesting thread!

Like other college students, my reply: my education. Tuition alone is about 15k a year, and I'll be in my 15k debt when I graduate. Other than that, I don't "buy" much, I'm pretty into anti-consumerism or at least alter-consumerism.

I have a soft spot, though, for books and computers... Spending 1,000 on a great laptop doesn't seem like a bad idea to me, computers are like every electronic device rolled into one. Not to mention all the money I save downloading all the things I download.

Clothes... I buy clothes about twice a year, but when I do, I'll spend a couple hundred... It is important for me to look good, professional.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is rent. I would love to be able to afford to live alone (without roommates) and am actually planning on doing so next year and working for the extra money. So I guess, location. I'm willing to pay for lifestyle/location of living in a big city with lots of culture, and living in a nice apartment and getting to decide if I live with roommates or not. Someday I hope I can afford to live in NYC or Paris and not in a starving-artist kind of way.

I mistyped; should be unique plants.

Heck a lot; I'm a plant lover (I once considered to be a botanist :D). The easiest one is the umbrella tree from Socotra Island, the rare type of pitcher plants, Welwitschia, cannonball tree, etc.

I grow all sorts of those pitcher plants.
Yet not many of the rarest because its to warm here for those moutain top Borneo plants.
Sadly the record cold here just wiped out my extensive collection of lowland Nepenthes, and really hurt many others including highlanders. But the size of some of my lowlanders made them very valuable and it will be forever to replace them.
I will not spend money on them as I did in the past. I use to spend a lot of money on plants. Nope, not any more.
