Fox News, Subliminal Messages

...just another reason why I don't watch Faux News.

What MoePhoenix7 said....I am in the midst of a self-imposed FOX News bannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.........................

LOL!

That was addressed years ago in a book called Hidden Persuaders.

Movie companies that used to own their theaters used to insert two-second clips of pop corn in their flicks to get patrons to go to the concession stands.

We have it in the UK (the international version) because Sky and Fox are 'sister companies'.

You only have to see a little bit of Fox to realise it's neither fair nor unbiased, and the recent airing of Mrs. Clinton on Fox had them crooning non-stop how 'fair and unbiased' Bill O'Reilly was with her.

In Britain, this would be seen in bad taste. When you have to regularly spout about 'fair and unbiased' to describe your own news, you know they're not, and trying to convince their audience (or indeed themselves) that it is. Crass, plain crass.

l If you follow some programs on Fox you will see that they actually do invite and show diverse opinions.

No.

They don't.

Sorry, but if you are telling me that FoxNews is "fair and balanced," you are wrong.

100% wrong.

And kinda clued-out.

No big surprise here.

The documentary OUTfoxed shows how Fox controls news not only at FNC but at local stations as well.

^ Western Canadian paranoia?

This kind of rant would have so much more cred if it was written by a liberal from Ontario.

Canada's future was in danger of being written only by disaffected gay hating religious gun toting, Bush loving FOX news watching fundamentalists.

Of course the CBC finds the current autocratic, secrecy obsessed PM and his cabal of witless fringe lunatic reformer barking dogs scary.

At least there's nothing subliminal about it.

Back to FOX though. They are smart enough to know that they can appeal to the conservatives by being the official mouthpiece of the republican West Wing.

They actually seem to believe in the wisdom of suspension of the constitution and law.

And they have no problem making that quite clear.

Fox News is such a joke.

Anyone who takes them seriously as a reliable and credible source of news needs to wake up. They need to be taken down and exposed for the frauds that they are. Bill O' Reilly should be assassinated. Seriously.

lol some people in this world have been preconditioned to hate Fox News like Pavlov preconditioned his dogs. First this is Fox 5 a local NY channel and Fox News Network is the cable channel.

Not that it matters, but they are in the same building. I'm sure the cable channel has "influence" over the local affiliate.

I don't see how just showing McCain and his once strung out on pain pills wife constitutes being a subliminal.

Maybe if 'vote for the old guy' flashed briefly at the same time....

meh.... I'm sick of the whole thing, I suppose.

The CBC here in Canada is the opposite of Fox news, but they're not so subtle about it.
Every show on CBC basically says that conservatives are human garbage, and liberals are God's gift to mankind, and that the western provinces are full of evil people, and that Ontario is the centre of the universe, and we must bow down and worship the allmighty liberal government.... and they pretty much do everything they can to get that message across, short of actually having the leader of the communist revolution Peter Mansbridge stand up in front of the soviet flag and actually say it.

Let me tell you about the CBC's idea of what Canada should be. Let me give you a hint... just replace the maple leaf on the flag with a hammer and sickle.

Chillax dude, you are taking this too offensively.
I mean, who cares that liberals are better than conservatives?
lol

Having worked at local TV affiliates, I can say with great certainty...

...sloppy editing.

The abolishment of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, obligating broadcasters in the US to report fairly and objectively, was a big mistake. The logic behind the move was flawed.

](*,) End of rant...

American thought and American politics will be largely at the mercy of those who operate these stations, for publicity is the most powerful weapon that can be wielded in a republic. And when such a weapon is placed in the hands of one person, or a single selfish group is permitted to either tacitly or otherwise acquire ownership or dominate these broadcasting stations throughout the country, then woe be to those who dare to differ with them. It will be impossible to compete with them in reaching the ears of the American people.

— Rep. Luther Johnson (D.-Texas), in the debate that preceded the Radio Act of 1927 (KPFA, 1/16/03)

Vote Obama. 2008.

I don't believe in subliminal messages. They just don't work.

Change you can believe in.

>>>you've obviously never worked for fox. it's been proven that their creed is to "complete the devil's work".

I personally have not. But my friend has. And that's not a subliminal. That's a sloppy cut. A subliminal would've been barely noticeable even when slowed down.

And, as pointed out, this is a LOCAL Fox affiliate. This isn't a national thing. It was aired on one TV station, in one market, probably only once. And as such, it was produced locally, where such little errors are common.

You may wish to believe all the ill you want about Fox, but I have more faith in the fallibility of local TV editors.

hey guys, i think i'm gonna vote for obama. because it's a change i can believe in!!!

Me too! even though i'm not American, after reading a message on this thread i just got the strangest urge to make sure Obama gets into the White House.

This is definitely funny. If this were showing up on more of the FOX affiliates I would definitely think it was an attempt at subliminal messaging. As it is just the NY station, I'd guess it's just a slip up. Then again, it is FOX...

Fox is evil and it's not like I couldn't believe they'd do something like that...but it looks pretty obvious that it was just sloppy editing...the logo peels off to reveal the days top story video (or a montage of the days stories) behind it and it's supposed to continue with that video for a bit, but instead they had some breaking news (i.e., something they could sensationalize) so they cut to the anchors at that moment instead, but you still got to see a second....sloppy editing.

If they were really doing subliminal "VOTE McCAIN!" would pop up for one frame at a time in the middle of the broadcast. Maybe someone oughtta check.
