Fox News Ticker Gets Hacked in New York

Most news station headquarters in New York have building-spanning tickers blasting the breaking news of the day to the street. And recently, some resourceful soul decided to bring the real "fair and balanced" reporting to said ticker, hacking into the mainframe and broadcasting the truth. Some other people with a video camera took the train up to Rockefeller Center to capture the magic, which in all-caps displays such items as "Our country is not broke" and "We are being lied to." Check out the video:

It really looks like the ticker was not hacked to me, there was just heavy video editing. Look at the size of the ticker when the "hack" occurs. It grows substantially larger. The video also jumps. Would have been funny if it was real...

Sugar, if this is not real, then I would love to have the program this guy used to patch the running text on the wall. Now the bottom pic is larger but I would say the cameraman panned in to make it larger. The font is the same. I could probably make an "attempt" to do this, but somebody would have to pay me a lot. You have to have the text crawl across the same place as the original. You would have to have the crawl go from smaller to larger. The cameraman used different pans throughout the video. It would be near impossible to do. IMO.

I'm sorry but I don't believe someone phonied this up.

but there are no solid clues to label this as a fake or not. the white/colorful flickering seems to be a bit odd. but depending on the display it might be real and would hint at a false videosignal that is used, instead of a "hack". however usually they don't use displays like that for those tickers.

OK, I stand siemi-corrected. But it is surely hard to fake the angle of the left being higher than the right, and from smaller to larger. I have worked with crawling marquees before and arranging this to fit the space on the building is something very difficult to do. As I said in my post, I could attempt to do it but it wouldn't be as perfect as this is.

No, it's really easy and doable with most of the professional video editing programs. You only need to do it right once and set a few points of reference that allow the program to calculate the correct perspective.

Any amateur could do this with the right software. Hell, Adobe has features built into all of its software that make doing something like this as easy as a click of a button.

The whole video was staged. Watch it without sound. It looks more fake than a 'reality' tv show. (that, and the sign consists of single color LEDs that cannot show the spectrum that it did during the 'switch')

If there were patriots in the GOP, Congress would have just passed a budget returning us to Eisenhower-era tax levels and freezing spending for five years while turning loose a new Grace Commission with actual authority to cut waste, not just make recommendations.
